Yea, he's an ass. I like ND and I like Floyd, but I have never liked Golden Tate. He's too arrogant. One could argue that his momentum took him, but really? He knocked a girl down.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:05 PM ^
I will probably get negged for this but anyway, I am tired of ND threads.
September 19th, 2009 at 10:01 PM ^
Yeah...ND threads were sooo last week...gosh...
September 20th, 2009 at 2:45 PM ^
first half comment fail, second half comment WIN.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:06 PM ^
He dove in on purpose. The arms in the air say it all. If his momentum had carried him in accidentally, then he would have been doing something with his arms instead of leaping up and swan-diving.
My wife and I laughed our butts off at the moron and watched it several times on the DVR.
September 20th, 2009 at 1:27 AM ^
That was definitely on purpose. WHAT AN ASSHAT!!!
September 20th, 2009 at 4:43 PM ^
Do you by any chance keep a law blog?
September 19th, 2009 at 9:06 PM ^
It would be one thing to run into your own band (Mario Manningham took out a clarinet player in '06), but what G. Tate did was unclassy.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:12 PM ^
He might have been trying to jump over the kid in the front row. My wife and I rewound that a few time b/c we thought it was kind of funny that the bandos parted like the red sea and let him fall.
He should've just stopped running like that dope in the Texas game who almost riled up that big ass steer. Keep it on the field homies...
September 19th, 2009 at 9:22 PM ^
Shipley? Yeah, he almost managed to gore himself.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:09 PM ^
hopefully MD and everyone he knows sends in the tape to the Athletic Director at ND and Tate gets suspended for a game. It would be interesting to see a game without Tate and Floyd.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:12 PM ^
Jump into the crowd and go all Mosh Pit on them, or possibly take a trombone slide up the ass. Maybe it's time to start keeping peeps more than six inches from the back of the end zones.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:13 PM ^
NBC kept cutting off the replays before Tate's leap. They must not have been happy having one of their employees swan dive into the Sparty band.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:53 PM ^
Also, I noticed an uncomfortable silence by NBC's guys between "clausen throws to Tate"... ... ..."touchdown"... ... ...[stroke clausen]
i wonder if those announcers get fired if they (god forbid) expose ND douchyness.
September 20th, 2009 at 4:10 AM ^
Yea if you noticed they also did that with the Floyd drop. I thought it was a TD everytime until 10 min later when I saw the whole replay
September 19th, 2009 at 9:13 PM ^
He gave the band a Golden Shower
September 19th, 2009 at 9:20 PM ^
...into the band; Tate then got up and ran briefly along the endzone wall, giving the business to the crowd. I think Tate ran 20 or 30 yards before he caught himself, thinking about another taunting penalty.
Golden Tate is a 15-yard Unsportsmanlike* Conduct penalty, just waiting to happen.
*lol -- The gender-neutral NCAA actually refers to "Unsportslike" actions...
September 19th, 2009 at 9:24 PM ^
That's as bad as suggesting the word "waitron" instead of "waiter/waitress."
September 19th, 2009 at 9:21 PM ^
Whatever, he was going into the band anyway. It isn't like he threw any elbows, for all we know he was trying to jump over someone. I don't know if he was, I'm just saying, its not like he caught the ball by the upright and ran across the endzone to jump into the band. Plus, landing on an instrument hurts, I can't imagine wanting to do that, even in pads.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:21 PM ^
I enjoyed it. Makes up for the 4 points they took away.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:22 PM ^
I haven't seen the video, but having been to ND with the MMB, the band seating is VERY close to the field. Too close, even. I think the clarinets who got lit up by Manningham in 2006 would attest to that. It's an incident waiting to happen.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:37 PM ^
Yeah. ND's got to create more room for the opposing band on the sidelines (removing those ridiculous flower boxes might help) because the current placement isn't real safe for players or band members.
September 19th, 2009 at 11:30 PM ^
they could also just not allow the opposing team's band in...that would solve the problem, too, wouldn't it?
Flower boxes are WEIRD. I noticed them for the first time on my trip to South Bend last year.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:23 PM ^
Just as well it wasn't meant to be--I don't wish any ill will to even Sparty clarinetists.
September 19th, 2009 at 9:40 PM ^
I heard the old irish guard gave him a rusty trombone.

Everyone who I was watching with was surprised it wasn't a flag. Seemed pretty intentional.
September 19th, 2009 at 11:32 PM ^
i don't care how many former band members post here, you can't convince me it was not intentional. I'm sorry, you don't see guys crashing into sidelines on other plays, why the hell would this one be so different? He just didn't care about swan-diving into the opposing band.
September 19th, 2009 at 11:52 PM ^
Is he the receiver who decommited from UM? I know we lost a WR from MN a couple years ago.
September 20th, 2009 at 12:05 AM ^
That would be Bryce McNeal from the 2009 class.

Thanks Farnn
September 20th, 2009 at 5:17 AM ^
It was intentional and classless. Only a real asshole would do something like that.
Of course I would have done the same thing if the MSU Band was in front of me...
September 20th, 2009 at 10:14 AM ^
I guess people on this thread seem pretty upset by his swan dive into the MSU band but I thought it was hilarious. It was as if he expected to be caught, and instead the seas parted and he just fell on his face.
September 20th, 2009 at 11:59 AM ^
i was wondering if he thought that was the ND band
September 20th, 2009 at 12:22 PM ^
I am pretty sure he was just making sure he took the ball all the way to the ground so it wasn't overturned. :)
September 20th, 2009 at 4:28 PM ^
Greatest Celebration Ever
September 20th, 2009 at 9:31 PM ^
And a classless move. I'm waiting to hear ND whine about the MSU band being in the way of their players.
The more I see of ND this season the less I respect them and Weis.
September 20th, 2009 at 11:21 PM ^
After seeing the replay, it is pretty obvious if he hadn't jumped he would have flattened the first and second rows (which were both still sitting down).
Did he play up the jump some, wouldn't doubt it, do I feel bad? No, none of the band members were hurt and the game went on as it did up till that point.
September 20th, 2009 at 10:10 PM ^
set to music. pretty funny
September 20th, 2009 at 11:11 PM ^
Thank you
sadly no one seems to have a torrent of this game yet.......
September 21st, 2009 at 6:32 AM ^
Very funny.
