Tate HAS grown

Submitted by AMazinBlue on
Met with my insurance agent yesterday. Seriously, He is a huge hockey fan and attends more games at Yost and on the road than I have ever gone to the Big House, and I have season tix. Anyway, he was at the game against Miami and sat one row behind Tate Forcier. He commented on how he was trying to stay under the radar at the game, but once a few people figured out who he was, that was over. The thing he kept saying to me was how huge Forcier looked. He couldn't believe how much he has bulked up. He said that wiry little freshman from last season is long gone and we won't be seeing him get pummled this year. He went on to say what a nice kid he was, but then started back in on how much bigger he is than he was during football season. Sounds like we will defintely see a bigger, stronger and most importantly, a more durable Tate on the field this coming season. Is it Sept. yet?

You know that the hockey season has more games, right?

Having never met the kid I have no idea what he's into. That said... Yost is a unique experience as a general campus landmark/sporting locale with a really cool atmosphere. It's something that I think every UM student should experience before they graduate. I'm glad, for his sake, that he still sees passionate M fans during his offseason.

I've seen Tate or been told by friends that they've seen Tate at several hockey games (both UofM and Red Wings). When the Kings were in town he was hanging around outside their locker room after the game. Turns out he is pretty tight with a couple younger Kings players that are from SoCal. I'm assuming there is some sort of uber-athlete fraternity for high school kids out there. Anyway...Tate was decked out, head to toe, in UofM gear. He actually looked kinda goofy, but as always was nice to the eleventy billion people asking for autographs.

I'm glad you got this info from your insurance salesman and not your urologist or a promiscuous lady friend in the dorms. If you had ... well ... it could have gotten real weird

Yeah freshman qb's undoubtedly make some bad decisions. I imagine the game moves pretty damn quickly for awhile. Holding onto the ball too long is frustrating to watch but not nearly as cringe worthy as him attempting to scramble swinging the ball around waiting to dribble it onto the turf. Either way I'm sure with his experience and hopefully uninjured line we should see some great things this year. Is it Sept yet???

"Sounds like we will defintely see a bigger, stronger and most importantly, a more durable Tate on the field this coming season." We're calling Devin "Tate" now? :)

How in the world does he expect to keep a low profile if he's wearing his varsity jacket around? I would never have noticed some random dude walking up the stairs if he hadn't been wearing the jacket. Because he was, I was curious to see if I knew who it was, and what do you know, it's Tate (Which about 50 other people figured out at the same time and started yelling about it).

Am I the only one that keeps seeing this thread title and reading it in creepy aunt trying to seduce their nephew voice? "My, my. You HAVE grown, haven't you?"

I do realize there are a lot more hockey games than football games. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. For an English major from 1987 you'd think I would have a better grasp of the language. My agent goes to a lot of hockey games and doesn't have season tickets, I believe he knows a lot more about the hockey program than the football program. Either way, he probably goes to more games than Tate, but the Force gets a lot more ladies than my insurance guy. The best part of the whole thing is, he owes me a hockey game and if Michigan makes the Frozen Four I will be there!

My wife is my insurance agent, and I'm pretty sure she hates Tate because she received no attention for at least 3 hours every Saturday last fall. And this Xavier-KSU game is nuts. Can't we please get the Wolverines back to the Sweet 16?
