Maybe he should go to Ohio State. I hear it's impossible to fail even if you don't try.

...but seriously, I hope he's alright and he finds the help he needs to get his head on straight.

Tate...please get well...I care about you because once upon a time you cared for (because you chose) my alma mater as your mother...please just figure your shitty shit out...spite your past despite your past...I have to promise it's possible.

But I think Tate would definitely benefit from some time spent with a Psychiatrist and Psychologist. I think he may need medial help. About his age is the time that most peopole develop really bad psychological diseases if they are going to do so. He may need medication.

OK, good, thanks for posting.  Like I mentioned before the whole "he's disappeared" line was a little scary.

OTOH you'd think he'd learn to get his grades in order by now.  Geez.  He'll be looking at Juco's now, I think.

Is that the FXB as your avatar?  Nice.

Wow.....at this point you just want the guy to get help. I mean there's clearly something going on with his head, just hope he doesn't end up on the 6 o'clock news or something

it reminded me of Tate. Initially put in a lot of work as a kid, missed out on some of the fun things you do when you're young, then gets thrust into the spotlight and forced to perform right away. Plus I believe Tate was trained by Marv Marinovich who was very demanding.

I hope that somehow Tate sees this page, just so he knows that there are a lot of people are pulling for him. Hope he can resolve whatever has been troubling him. He may have left UM, but he's still one of us, and has my full support and prayers as he goes through these challenges.

This thread is so very Huxleyan.

... I sure hope they never come up with a pill or "treatment" for "youthful indescretions". What a bland world that would be. Just because the kid may not be cut out for college doesn't mean his life is doomed without "treatment".

You jump to conclusions. Psychiatric help doesn't necessarily mean medication. Not being cut out for college is one thing. Squandering talent, running from program to program is another. He may be anything along the spectrum from just dumb and not cut out for college to depressed to bipolar to schizophrenic. Plus there was the report last winter about him in what may have been a suicide attempt IIRC. Netter to seek out help and be told there is nothing wrong than to have a thread posted about an unfortunate event

I was all ready to start making "May the Forcier be with you" T-s in the baby Michigan colors SJSU uses.  It would've been fun to have a little mgostyle at grad school!

Le sigh.

Sad story.  I just wonder how good Tate would have become if he applied himself in the weight room, in off-season drills, film study and the classroom.  I really think he could have been special, maybe even an All-American.  He had some great games as a true freshman, so I just wonder what he would have done as a jr. and sr?

This is going to be funny when someone tweets tomorrow that everything is fine and Forcier alright tomorrow...

Anyway, carry on.

Based on everything Tate has said and done, I get the impression that he was essentially bred to be a narcissist. That family is kind of nuts. Things went south at Michigan, he ego couldn't handle it. Says Dr. Freud.

I really, really hate to go all MIke Valenti but I can't help but think that kid's father has had a far-less-than positive influence on him.  This should be a good lesson to every dad who is overdoing it in pushing his kids to succeed in sports.  Sometimes it's just not worth it.

Hard for me to read some of the negative posts here; none of us know for sure what the back story is, and for all of his academic problems, he may very well be a nice kid.

I wish things could have worked out for him at Michigan. I like what he did for Michigan, and wish him well know matter what.

It seems to me Tate has played his last down as DI football player.  From the outside looking in he seemed a likable kid, but he must have some serious demons.  Certainly hope all turns out as well as possible for him.
