tailgating before the game

Submitted by goMichblue on

I didn't have the honor of going to Ann Arbor for my undergrad as I chose to go into the military for college. Where I went to school, Navy (yes, damn that pass attempt on the two point conversion vs OSU), tail gates are open to anyone and everyone.

What are the tailgates like at AA? Are strangers welcomed? I'm going to the game with my girl and we don't really know anybody but would like to make some friends at the tailgates. Anyone know of open tailgates, we are willing to pay for our drinks of course. It would be nice to talk football with fans instead of just heading to main street.

What I do is park is park just west of Main on Scio Church rd. It is the first house on the left and costs $20. We take our cooler on wheels a short walk to Pioneer and camp out. There is a big screen TV and a good place to toss the ball. If you walk west on the sidewalk (diagonally) you will find a TeKe Bar setup with cocktails being served.

It gets wild and everyone is friendly.

As long as you're wearing the right colors, most people are friendly and willing to share. I've been in quite a few pickup football games at the AAGO with complete strangers.
