Tailgating 9/3 WMU

Submitted by robmorren2 on

Im heading into Ann Arbor for the game early on Saturday. I'm bringing 3 of my friends (24, 27, 28 years old) to their first game. I've only been to a couple myself. Need some help with tailgating plans. I have hotel reservations for that night, so I'd like to park at the hotel and just cab it over to the stadium.

And now come the questions ... Should I drive my car and park at the golf course? I'd definitely like to avoid driving, but I have absolutely no tailgating ties. I'm driving up from Northern Indiana, so I don't have any Ann Arbor / U of M connections. I'm worried that if I don't have a car at the golf course that we'll just be stuck walking in circles. I wasn't really sure what there is to do close to the stadium if we needed a place to sit down and chill. I suppose I could bank on finding a tailgate party to crash, but I don't like imposing (I'm sure that'll change after 5 or 10 beers).

Just thought I'd feel out the MGOBLOG community and see what a good gameplan would be. Also, any suggestions on where to go the night of the game would be good. I'm assuming anywhere on South U would be good from reading other posts.

if you're worried about crashing, just tailgate yourself. Don't bother driving to the course, just buy the cheapest grill and cooler you can find and find a random spot at the golf course to set up shop. then just leave the grill and cooler behind.

Wow, your a dick.

It's that kind of shit which causes the golf course to consider closing from parking except for members. It also drives up the cost as the course has to hire people to come clean it up.

I'd only expect that kind of disrespect to property to come from MSU and OSU fans, didn't realize there were that classless of Michigan fans.

If you're not bringing a grill, I'd recommend for you to avoid the golf course and park north of the stadium. Bring some beers to drink early. Then walk into campus to get some food and more beer before the game. Hope you have a good time.

park your car on the golf course, drink and eat.

1 responsible person (friend A) should stop drinking so much.

the game lasts 3 hours and you get 2 bonus hours ample time for friend A to sober up while everyone else drinks.

Friend A eats and drinks a soda or energy drink.

Drive back to your hotel.

Friend A opens a beer upon entering hotel room.

Resume Celebration.

If you aren't a weirdo or a nerd or a rapist or a murderer stop on by. How I got hooked on the tailgating part was I just showed up at the golf course with a cooler of beer and my grill and built on from there.

We are either near the rest rooms or down further near the alumni tent. We are always on the east side somewhere though. This year we will be easier to spot this year. I will be flying a Jager Flag above our tailgate and also have a 5ft. inflatable Jager bottle on my uncles truck. If you see those things. you've found us...we should also be in line to park by about 0630 that morning in the hopes of getting one of the best spots.

I misread your Facebook page. We park on the west side of the course off the Main Street entrance. I recommend parking there sometime. We've done it the past three years and have always got the spot we've wanted. There are plenty of prime locations backed up to the surrounding fairways.

Still interested in your tourney but I doubt that we'll wander that far over.

We will be getting to Pioneer about 830 and will have the washers and the grill going as well. If you are the beer drinking type Pioneer may be worth checking out as every half hour there is a nice salute to something random followed to a shotgun. tjanes01 at yahoo.com Our tailgate always seems to draw the randoms and as long as you bring your own beer you are always welcome.

If it is their first game park on the golf course. It is quite the spectacle and is very memorable for a first time. If you crash a tailgate bring meat and beer and you will be warmly welcomed.
