Sweet Sixteen Snowflakes

Michigan is moving on to the Sweet 16 for the 2nd year in a row. Started out the game playing great basketball and shooting extremely well. Texas hung around though and was down just 13 at half. Michigan extended the lead to 18 early in the 2nd half. Texas then went to a zone that gave us some trouble. The lead got all the way down to 6 at one point before we went on a game clinching run, sparked by a good stretch by GR3. Thought other than that stretch in the 2nd when they first went to the zone we looked very good. Did get beat up on the boards, but that was to be expected. Robinson and Morgan probably had two of the better games on our team for our guys. Morgan neutralizing Ridley was huge. We are now just one win vs either Tennessee or Mercer from a trip to the Elite Eight. Neither of those teams would be an easy win at all, but it's still undeniably a great position to be in.

Fug yes!

Pretty good game.  I think the broadcaster was right, that first run of 11 minutes straight without a break really helped us and hurt Texas' big man.  Maybe not, maybe we were just that on fire and it didn't matter but that was odd to see, nonetheless, in this commercialized day in age.

GO BLUE.  SWEET 16.  W HAVIN' SUBS!!!

Also, but is Texas' O rebounding so good because their shooting so bad?  Maybe it's just feelingsball, but man, a lot of their shots were just so crazy bad, it didn't even give our rebounders in position a freaking chance.

Yes, somewhat at least.  Many here probably wouldn't like to hear this but some of rebounding is "chance" and luck.  The ball can take some weird bounces and even if one is in proper rebounding position the ball can find ways to miss you and go back to the oppostion's hands.  When bricks are chucked up, this happens even moreso.

14 point win. Sweet sixteen trip. Still not satisfied. My how things have changed. This is what it is supposed to be like to be a Michigan fan.

When you pay too much for cable, you get frustrated. When you get frustrated, you take it onto the court. When you take it onto the court, you foul the other team's center, Jordan Morgan. When you foul Jordan Morgan, he makes his FTs. When he makes his FTs, you back off on defense. When you back off on defense, Michigan hits everything. And when Michigan hits everything, your coach gets fired for an embarassing performance.

Don't have your coach fired for an embarassing performance.

Think Jordan Morgan doesn't want his career to end?  He didn't record a double-double in the first 29 games of the season, but he's had three in his last six games (and two in a row).

Morgan is getting big time minutes in the tournament so far.  He got 29 against Wofford and I can't find a number for this game, but I don't really remember seeing Horford except for a few plays.  Big ups to Beilein (as if he needs any more) for recognizing when a guy is on.  Morgan has been a difference maker so far.  Went toe to toe with a guy who should have manhandled him tonight.  Never underestimate the importance of senior leadership.
