Surprise! Another Buckeye Suspended
This is bush league. They should have redshirted this kid until he learns how to do shennanigans the Buckeye way.
"...when your books are what you're there about, but looks are what you care about..."
How is all of this trouble finally coming out? was Tres able to keep some of these things hush hush or would he just not suspend anybody?
Lets be real here...This isn't important in regards to the program. It seems kind of like behavior from a young adult...you know, someone of college age.
This is quite different from taking money from people, trading memorabilia for goods and services, drugs, violence, etc. If this was one of our players, we would have simply said its kids being kids
I don't think we'd say it's just kids being kids, I think we'd say it was a stupid thing to do. But the big difference is that these players know that the program is under a microscope and has had plenty of bad press already. Either the coaches aren't drilling it into these kids to behave, or they just don't care. Either way, it's a problem.
I think it's a bit unfair to place all the blame for this on the current coaching staff. The kids in this program have been allowed to run amuck for quite some time now, and no one can expect them to tow the line immediatetly. Seems they're now learning that there's actually consequences for their actions.
I once saw a guy get tackled and have a gun pointed at him because he was stupid enough to be shooting an air soft gun by a Wendy's at night. Police take that stuff pretty seriously when there's anything resembling a real gun involved. Lucky the 911 caller recognized it was only a paintball gun.
Lots of college students engage in stupid pranks. Students on athletic schollies usually don't have the luxury of having it be quiet. The player was above and beyond stupid here, though. It's not like he shouldn't have been able to figure out that his team is under a lot of scrutiny right now.
Michael looks weird.....well uh weirder.
at this phase in his life. Definitely one of his weirder phases. Pick a color already....yeesh
Is this guy any good? Also, Chris Carter was the guy who got arrested before he even made it to campus, right? I'm surprised he's even on the team, he seems to find trouble pretty easily.
It's fun that we can look forward to bad news coming out of Ohio State every Thursday or Friday before a game.
Seriously, it's like clockwork.
I bet an OSU co-worker that the team wouldn't make it to Saturday without another suspension. Sure, he laughed at me at the time, but who's laughing now?
Chris Carter is not Chris Carter Jr. I had to remind someone about that earlier.
CC's son is at 'Bama and is named Duron.
/Making sure no stoopid stuff is said
but he is the Chris Carter who was accused of posing as an ROTC member and fondling girls in high school. Classy.
What you mean is "Not at all unexpected or atypical" or "par for the course" or "I love it because they just don't know when to stop."
Won't be satisfied until we beat them, however. No mercy rule either. 100-0 would not be a big enough victory.
Agree. The OSU shenanigans are fun to watch, but what matters most is sticking it to them on the field.
talkabout replacing the vest (luke simply waiting for a bus out of town at this junction) with urban?
If you look closely at the program under urban...they both ran the same types of program. This is one trainwreck I'm going to enjoooooy!
a surprise, but really, it's not. I fully expect at least one new Buckeye suspension per week now.
Has now moved on from fondling women ( http://www.thelantern.com/sports/no-case-against-osu-recruit-chris-carter-says-attorney-1.1958964#.TpeAHpua9tM ) and is merely hanging out with guys and guns....
You cant make this stuff up...its just mind boggling..after his situation he goes on the roof with a paintball gun and shoots people ... follow the yellow brick road son maybe you will get a brain
Is this part of the $142K tsio paid in players attorney fees ? I can't believe this shit is even possible. Maybe they can argue with the NCAA that they never lost institutional control because they are a University not an Institution. Can't wait until they use the famous Bill Clinton defense "it depends on what the definition of is ...is". There is NO possible explanation as to how Gene Smith & Gordon Gee still have their jobs.
thats just pathetic
I found this old list while doing some other research. It is only current through 2008, but captures how jacked up the Tressel era is/was.
This one is good too.
“Not everybody’s the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever.
Meh. Maybe he was just practicing for his second sport with the Ohio State paintball team.
This is why our football-playing housemate ceased his participation in potato gun hijinks when they progressed to firing potato chunks at the thieves in the house across the street.
What's the big deal?
At what point does this finally turn into lack of instututional control?
Oh wait, we're dealing with the NCAA so never......
You stole my thunder. It seems to me that it is bordering on that but what do I know.
This wasn't an NCAA incident though, it was a legal one. He didn't break an NCAA bylaw, just Columbus law.
If that were a standard for LOIC, we might have been staring it down with Cissoko and Stonum happening within six months or so.
Best part of the article: "Basketball team spokesman Dan Wallenberg said in an email, "We have no issues with any basketball student athletes.""
I imagine there was some reason for this to be included, but without knowing what that is, it reads as if the b-ball team down there is just making sure it is fully dissociated from the football team. :)
Be sure to read the comments from the bottom up on the article. They are gold, gold I say!
I was just reading the article when an Ohio fan came in and saw it. His response? What's the big deal, his son has a paintball war on his property every year for his birthday. Seriously? There's no difference between some kids shooting paintballs at each other in the woods and some "kids" shooting paintballs off the roof of a public building on a college campus? Stupid is as stupid does.
