First, I credit Bosch with the inspiration - excellent idea, sir.

This is the Sugar Bowl Open Thread  - 1st Half. I think 8:15 PM is close  enough.

Come On ESPN!

All right, they have shredded the D and we're only down 6-0.  If the offense gets something going all will be fine.  Let's take a deep breath and hope Denard has his contacts in the right eyes.

It's 6-0, but I think people are freaking out more than we've looked suspect in stopping the pass. We've allowed three 3rd and longs in the first QUARTER when I bet we haven't allowed that in entire games. And our offense has done nothing.

It's not the score that has people worried. JMO.

I've seen this before.  You prepare for a team by analyzing tapes of their play. . . and when the bowl game starts, a completely different team shows up.  You don't want to overhaul your scheme during the regular season, but a month gives a team a lot of time to prepare a few new looks.

Michigan's secondary has always been suspect and was exposed by OSU.  Their run defense is solid whereas VT had to know their interior line was suspect.  Logan Thomas has an accurate arm.  Logical solution if you're VT?  Open up firing.  I don't know if Mattison was caught flat-footed, but even with a nickel package if they gambled that VT would first try to pound the ball on the ground it makes a lot of pre-game prep for naught.  That would also explain VT's mistakes; they might've drilled new plays in practice but it's a totally different speed in a game against a quality opponent.

This is speculation at this point.  I haven't watched any VT at all and athleticism is also such a huge factor and I'm not keen enough to tell if a quickness disparity is due to mismatch or hesitation.

We need you to bring it up a couple notches...that's two plays that we could've had touchdowns...or got it down in close and two tough, but bad passes.

are getting killed. Penetration at will by them, no pressure on their qb. We're stopping their running but wow, Dernard has guys in his face every play, swarming into our backfield.

No rhythm at all so far.

Maybe a little late (was unsuccessfully putting my 2 year old to sleep), but did Molk get hurt when he hit the camera they put in front of him during warm-ups?

WTF Borges?! Even I can see that Molk can't move laterally! Stop moving the pocket and making him run...the LBs are flying right past him.

When he's able to just snap and pass protect in the middle, he's fine. When he has to run, he's gotten burned twice!

will "slow down" for our guys.  The nerves have to be settling down by now.  This is just last year, the defense is on the field the whole game and the offense can't do shit.

Is it just me or are we doing the exact opposite of what we should be doing?! Fitz had a long run his first attempt. Where'd he go?!
