I was! I don't remember my time on bourbon street though.
Discovering that you could carry an alcoholic beverage wherever you go was just like being a kid on Christmas morning. Don't think I left the hotel without one. I cannot say it resulted in a pleasant drive back to Ann Arbor, though.
I was also really looking forward to having my first (legal) drink in the Big House for this year's NHL Winter Classic.
You should go to Michigan hockey games at the Joe. I tried to slam large Molson Xxx's one game (1 per period). That night did not end well...
We're awesome last year. Had to be 2:1 michigan to vt on bourbon street. Had a blast
Maybe obviously.
Seeing the city during the lead in made me nolstagic.
Good God... What was that "national anthem"?
Florida fans are a bunch of brats. They were talking about Florida not selling most of their tickets pregame. Because their fans think they're too good for the Sugar Bowl. That's ridiculous. How about you win more games if you think that's the case?
That's the SEC's Rose Bowl. You think Georgia wouldn't want to be there?
Hell, I'd love to see Michigan play in this game against louisville!
Also: Muhammed Ali!!
Worse turnout than last year...
WOOOOO! Driskel, you noodle arm! Pick 6!
Makes me want a grenade.
I kept my hand grenade cup as a souvenir of awesome night.
Go Teddy Bridgewater and Co.. I thoroughly enjoyed New Orleans last year and can't wait to go back (Bowl game or not).
Refs have missed a blatant facemask and a helmet to helmet hit on Florida already.
Louisville is coming to play today!
SEC SEC SEC!!! Oh wait.
Louisville playing a little mooseball!
Greaaaat start for Louisville. Love seeing these teams who think they're superior looking around like they don't know what hit them. Now they're reviewing this but save for a ultimate debacle Louisville will be up two tuds.
ESSS EEEEE SEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
LOL it's the 2009 Sugar Bowl all over again. SEC team thinking they're better and not being motivated and laying an egg right off the bat.
What a wonderful start to this game.
Wtf is up with the delay??!
Is a stud. Picked apart against an excellent Florida defense. MOAR BRIDGEWATER!!!!
I wish somebody would slap these SEC kids who chirp after play they make (even when some of the plays are advantageous to the opposing team)...It happened all day yesterday by the SC players.
Yeah what was up with that SC kid yesterday doing the make it rain thing?
Right. I have no clue. It looks asinine but whataya gonna do. Kids will be kids. I had a few buddies who played for Iowa a few years back during years they made Outbac Bowl (playing SC). They said they were the biggest group of thugs they've played against; in a way Spurrier promotes that kinda garbage in his program (and I'm a guy who kinda likes Spurrier).
But I can't think of a reason in the world not to root for Lousiville. Charlie Strong, Vance Bedford, anti-SEC, Florida fans are kinda assholes. Seems an easy call.
needs to get their money back.
Yikes, no kidding.
Every time I hear Trey Burton I keep thinking they're saying Trey Burke. Too used to Trey dominating the game of basketball.
That drive included runs of 13, 9 (twice), 8, 6, 5 (twice) yards, and two passes of over 10 yards, and Florida gets the field goal. That's a lot of work for a field goal, in my opinion, but the closer they got to the goal line, the more mentally unaware they seemed to get.
Might have to look into that all-sunflower seed diet.
I think you can chalk this up to kids having a lack of consistantcy.
I can't stand these SEC punks. Sticking your finger in a refs face would buy you a few hours of stadium steps at Michigan.
Bo would be absolutely livid if a player did that and to be honest, I don't think a player on his teams would have. Bo put fear into those guys.
That sounds like unsportsmanlike conduct to me.
I highly doubt that
Where can I get a sweet gold chain like the one Tebow is wearing?
Puffer Reds
I did not expect this at all. That being said, I'm enjoying this game very much.
has got to be getting considered for NFL HC jobs.
we can safely enjoy a little schadenflorida.
Did you all just see ESPN use the Michigan VT helmets on their Sugar Bowl logo instead of Florida and Louisville? 9:29 for those with DVR.
Wow it's amazing how bad Louisville is at running, yet they are dominating.
They keep moving it because Florida can't get stops on third down.
Sounds familiar. Le sigh...
#stillbutthurt
Anyone else notice Morrison, a starting freshman linebacker for Florida playing out there? Wasn't he being recruited by us last year?
S E C !
Nice!
the Gators look more like the guys from "Varsity Blues" after the strip club all-niter. Too much time on Bourbon Street, mayhaps?
Please let this be the year that everyone realizes the SEC isn't that great, rather just a little bit better than the rest.
I've been trying to say that all year, but nobody listened.
They'll spin it down here that Florida just wasn't up for it because they thought they should be in the title game. SEC teams are all superior....when they lose it's ALWAYS a fluke! Gotta love the hype machine.
Monday night.
I'd include that in "slightly better than the rest"
this is actually making me nervous about Notre Dame's chances Monday night. I didn't think Nebraska would compete with UGA either.
SEC SEC SEC!
And we had wound up with a title game between Bama and this awful Florida team? And no one would have questioned the SEC's supremacy...
If I'm not mistaken, this was the second biggest spread of the bowl season at Florida -14.5.
I have no idea what Florida is doing but hopefully Louisville can continue to shut up some of the SEC homers.
And hopefully after 30 minutes of football I'm cashing in on that. Way too big of a spread for a Florida team who has had multiple poor perfomances against less than great teams.
Stupid prevent!! Just keep doing what was working!
Lousiville for BIG expansion? They are beating the unbeatable SEC with their amazing speed (faster than grandma with a cheetah strapped to her back).
/s
Strong should know better than to go into soft zone at the end of the half.
Patrick Omameh sighting on the Good Works Team!
losing it's shit.
Personal Fouls and an ejection for a tap to the face mask.
Both Enforced. Starting the SECond half on the Twenty is Louisville.....score!!!
And again it occurs, the stupidity of punching a guy in the helmet with a bare fist.
Tonight, we are all Cardinals.
an es
an ee
About time they started reigning in these jackasses
That was entirely satisfying
There's that SEC educationz with muschamp's brilliant call.
Heard on Florida sideline: "Exactly as we practiced it except for everything about it...". I find myself chuckling at the Gators right now as they try everything including personal fouls to prevent themselves from being in this game.
Is that it is only with SEC speed that it is possible to give up touchdowns SO FAST.
Why Florida ball?! Didn't louisville defer?!
Florida committed multiple personal fouls, resulting in Louisville ball on the Florida 20, and TD on 1st down less than 10 seconds into the half. XP blocked.
Wow. Thanks. I missed end of half so didn't know score and walked in at 14:48 wondering why Flordida had ball.
mmmmmmmm soooo gooood!
I'd enjoy having Louisville in the BIG if they had better academics...oh and they have to keep Charlie Strong forever to stay admitted.
Awkwaaaaaaarrrrrd...
This game keeps getting better and better. Lets go Cardinals! Punch it in again boys
This is greater than SEC speed.
1) Why do the announcers love UF?
2) Why is Vance Bedford not credited by being a M man? Announcers are citing his experience with Meyer. That's BS!
When it rains it pours...
C'mon Louisville...you had it at the 3 yard line...
Well that was the worst possession ever...
That or when the Virginia Tech running back ran backwards for 20 yards
That was the best possession ever.
What have we learned this bowl season? If anything, its that the SEC can bleed. South Carolina needed a last minute TD, UF is getting made an example of by a Big East team, LSU loses to Clemson, Georgia couldn't pull away from Nebraska until the 4th quarter, Miss State got handled by Northwestern.
Not saying its not still the best conference in football, because it is, but these teams can be beaten.
The South Carolina game had so many what ifs - one wrap up tackle, one less fumble, one etc...Yes, the SEC teams have won many games this year, but the notion that any conference is dominating another is pretty untenable.
Even if Louisville completely gags this game away, any notion of "dominance" should be put aside.
"This is why they play the game...:
ESS EEE CEE
I can't decide which analyst I hate more--Spielman or Millen. And they had Tebow on the pregame show. Why must you forever troll me ESPN?
For whatever reason he seems to struggle controlling his emotions.
This is it. TD or FG, this is it. Running clock, still throwing effectively...making UF look like complete chumps.
Another missed Louisville FG. I'd rather bite into a raw beet than go back to that era of special teams at Michigan.
Louisville desperately trying to let Florida back in it.
They just ran 8 minutes off the clock...Florida getting "back in it" would necessitate them a) scoring quickly and b) getting stops.
That was an awesome play by the safety...I wish ours could do that
Wow, the Florida offense is awful. If you can stop the run or get up on them they have no answer at all.
Alright...20 points down and 15 minutes of regulation play left. Brent Pease (Florida OC) has Louisville right where he wants them, right?
Florida still needs 2 scores even if they get a TD here. Louisville has been doing a good time of killing the clock.
Why does Driskell suck so much?
Damn that was ballsy to take it out.
Blouses.
He makes the bad call to take the interception out of the end zone, and still bring it out past the 20.
Did anyone else see the Vatech and Michigan helmets used in that graphic before the commercial?
Wishful thinking.
I can't express how much this game this pleasures me to watch (get your head.out of the gutter). Ess. Eee. See. I now bow to your greatness.
Did anybody else noticed that they used Michigan and Virginia Tech helmets with the Sugar Bowl logo after that last interception before they went to commercial break?
They wish that was the matchup they were airing tonight.
In the classroom, in the wieghtroom, in the community.
Pretty sure gator blogs are gonna crucify Willy Muschamp. Brian, can we get a special TWIS specifically devoted to this ensuing freak out?
I see you Florida.
Charlie Strong...this is a bad idea.
Did Louisville set some kind of a record by scoring in the first play from scrimmage of both halves? I've never seen that before. It's got to be a bowl record at least.
Esssseeeeeceeeeeee!!!!! Woooooo!!
Only Muschamp tries a sneak from the 3...clock running, uses time out.
Coaching Genius.
Right now, somewhere in Texas, Mack Brown is laughing.
Damn. We should have invited Louisville to the big ten. Academics be damned!
Hopefully the SEC will be semi fairly ranked next season. You start them off with 5-6 teams in the top ten let them play a weak non conference schedule and then drop them 1-2 places when they get blown out by 40-50 points and then act surprised when they perform like they have in the bowls.
Nebraska and Michigan where mediocre teams and took Georgia and SC to the end... Michigan should have won. LSU got beat by Clemson , Mississippi state got beat down by NW and now Florida ia getting smacked by Louisville. Hopefully ND lays a whipping on Alabama and we can put this SEC dominance to rest for atleast one year.
I just wonder where the bandwagon 'SEC" fans will go..... Nevermind i answered my own question. They'll just go back to being ND fans
I was with you up until you said ND whipping Bama. I will never be on board with a ND victory, especially in the National Championship game. Lets go Bama!
It took a lot of soul searching to pick who i was pulling for. I can put with ND fans a lot easier than I can put up with SEC fans right now. Plus if they win then we get to beat the defending national champions next year
What will the ESPN/media narrative be? Big East dominance? The fall of the SEC? Charlie Strong, who turned down the Tennessee job, deals another blow to the conference he spurned?
If only...
Tide repeat National Championships, duh
The impossibly difficult grind of the SEC left Florida with nothing left in the tank for tonight. One month of recovery isn't enough.
I'm sure ESPN will spin it to say Florida wasn't into it. They thought they should've been in the NC game. Some BS like that.
Amazing display of clock management by the Gators. Just pathetic.
Well, at least Florida still has their fans.
clap clap clap-clap-clap
EVERYONE LOVES PILING ON THE BIG EAST, BUT THEIR BCS BOWL RECORD IS PRETTY GOOD.
APOLOGIES FOR THE ALL CAPS...POSTING FROM CELL PHONE AND THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A WAY TO TURN IT OFF.
Did Strong just shake the troopers hand?
You've gotta appreciate a sideline reporter who shoves his way in between a coach and the family he's trying to hug in order to ask a few meaningless questions.
Similar to yesterday evening after the Rose Bowl. It seemed David Shaw (Standford HC) was trying to celebrate and the sideline reporter was pulling the "Coach, you have an obligation to talk to me" card so he stopped for a minute and answered her question. He then proceeded to kind of walk away and be with his team and coaches, why he would want to do that after winning the Rose Bowl I have no clue, and she again tried to keep him by pulling the aforementioned card. Mussberger pipes in from the booth stating that "the winning coach know before hand and is contracted into giving an interview post-game" blah blah blah. Shaw is again pulled in, after, as Mussberger lets us know, "someone must have told him the circumstance and obligation" and answers her next couple shi**y questions. It's all such a crock. I personally don't need to hear what they have to say. If networks want to have their cameras and watch a bit of celebrating that is fine. But that is exactly what they should be doing, celebrating, and not giving dull, inane interviews with fuggin' sideline reporters.
Charlie Strong seems like a really good guy.
LSU Freek captures Muschamp's capacities well.
If that was me on that boat I'd be using this oportunity to grab all kinds of booty
Urban
Louisville!
ESSSS EEEEE SEEEEE dominance at its finest.
Big East > SEC ?
If only Rutgers had pulled it out, the Big Easy would have a clean sweep.
