Subway donates subs to Ann Arbor food bank

Submitted by bluebelle on

From the Facebook Page of the Food Gatherers food bank in Ann Arbor:

Food Gatherers just scored 3,333 Subway sandwiches thanks to the Michigan Basketball team! This donation was part of Subway's pledge to donate 3,333 sandwiches to the food bank in the market of the NCAA tournament team who made the most 3-point shots - the Wolverines were the clear winner with 49 3-pointers! Thanks to Subway and University of Michigan Basketball for their work in the fight against hunger!

I can confirm that we did get subs and it was indeed crazy.  Major thanks to Subway!  With the help of our partner agencies we have already distributed several hundred subs to the hungry folks in Washtenaw County.

I used to work for a government agency that did a lot of work with Food Gatherers and I want you to know I think you guys are phenomenal at what you do. I worked with a lot of different not-for-profits in my job and yours was always the most professional, most efficient and basically the best all around. Keep up the good work!

I am constantly impressed by the dedication of our staff and  volunteers (nearly 6,000 different people annually) to the mission.  I have never been a part of a workforce like this and I consider it a privilege be involved.

I suddenly feel I should point out that I'm not on the clock right now.

The joke is obvious and already been made, but it's really eerie how the improbable tourney run reached it's conclusion with thousands of subs awarded to the Michigan community.
