"Plaza Level," which is field level (first group of seats from the field). Which section, that I am not sure.

Is there any word about exceptions for students and the game?
It is literally impossible to go to an 830pm game in NOLA and then make it back for class the next day...
As many of you know, if you dont attend the first two classes, youre dropped....

Flight that leaves New Orleans at 5:15am and gets to DTW by 11:00am. Do it.
If not, just email your professors explaining your situation.

Hey I'm on that flight! United?

That Sports and Daily Life in Ancient Rome course will be waiting for you semester . . .

For $200/class, I'll sit in your class and when the professor says your name, I'll yell whatever you want me to say.

So the football players are not going to make it back in time for their first classes. How can a professor be understanding of that only for them? You will be fine.
December 5th, 2011 at 2:00 PM ^
And the band. And the twirlers. And the flag team. Yeah, I thought the NCAA was all about discouraging "preferential treatment?" You'll be fine.

Talk to your professors and tell them you won't be back in AA until the 5th or whenever you will get back. You don't have to say it's because of the bowl game, because that's not really important to them. The policy is in place to make it easy to tell how many vacant spots there are for people on the wait list. By contacting the teacher they know that you are still interested. You could also ask for a copy of the syllabus to show interest and even ask about the first reading assignments/HW.
If your teacher still gives you trouble and will drop you if you aren't there, then you don't want to take that teachers class anyway because it will suck for the whole semester.

We just need to be like bama, cancel classes that day so students can go

I wonder how professors would react if we were playing in the MNC game and we had to miss the first week of classes.

This is encouraging.

Is anyone familiar with the validation process of tickets for a bowl game, or if there even is one?
I am planning to buy an extra student ticket for a friend from New Orleans who would attend the game with me (a thank you for letting me crash with him)
December 5th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
any prof who would drop you over this isnt worth having class with in the first place
December 6th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
1,800 student tickets sold yesterday...that is a monster amount. Nice work.
December 14th, 2011 at 6:10 PM ^
I got mine in the mail today and they are in section 627, i thought they were at least supposed to be in the lower level. I bought them right at 830 am the day they went on sale. im not happy to say the least..
December 14th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
I got the same section and i got my tickets as early as i could at 8:30. UofM really screwed the students over. We might not be forking over the extra cash for the premium seats, but we're usually the people that make all the noise in the stadium yelling our hardest for our team. The least they could do is give us decent seats.

If true - unreal. If you google student section at the Sugar Bowl you will see that each schools student section has historically been in the endzones by the respective bands. Apparently all the pundits hating on the Sugar Bowl committee for their materialistic team selection were right...all they care about is selling the better seats for more money. Sickening and unfortunate.
EDIT:
A quick google search reveals the VT student section is in the endzone, section 154, if this craigslist posting is true: http://blacksburg.craigslist.org/tix/2740712950.html
Maybe we bought so many tickets the 600 level section is for overflow?

Thats exactly where I thought we would be, right by the band in the endzone. Thats where I have always seen every other student section. It really is sad. We arent forking over $180 for the tickets, but I think tuition is a little more than that. Looks like we are all watching from the nose bleeds..
