StubHub Buyer Question

Submitted by gbdub on

Somehow I've managed to make it this far in life without buying tickets from StubHub. Looking to go to the Utah game and considering that route. The particular seats I'm looking at are listed as "Electronic Delivery" with "Expected Upload by August 29". This is in contrast to most of the other listings, which are available for instant download.

Any reason I should be worried? Anyone have good/bad/ugly tales of buying from StubHub?

You will get the tickets you ordered or some that are equal or better. It is very safe. EBay is probably cheaper but not as safe.

Stubhub guarantees their product. The seller fouled up my purchase of tickets for the MSU game in 2008, and stubhub upgraded me to row 3 tickets that year, around the 40 yard line. I'd always recommend them. I was also able to get a ticket to the Notre Dame game last year for 1$.

I bought the Notre Dame ticket about 4 hours before game time. I assume that the seller meant to put 100 or 1000$, because my seat was 5th row on the 15 yard line on the Michigan side. Nothing like a great tailgate followed up by that kind of luck.

Had nosebleeds from Stubhub for Canada-Switzerland hockey at the Vancouver Olympics. For whatever reason, the tickets I requested didn't come so I ended up in the third row behind the Swiss bench. Is still my favourite sporting memory and would trust Stubhub with any ticket purchases. Just have to be willing to pay.

This isn't entirely true, I bought tickets and the guy mis wrote the section. I bought the tickets expecting lower level seats at the Pistons court and once they sent me an email saying the tickets weren't what I bought they told me I had to either take the tickets or just receive the same price I paid but as a credit which was complete BS. I will never use their services again for that.

To how the seller chooses to list the tickets. Sometimes when I am posting my tickets for sale, I don't feel like sitting down right then and typing in all the bar codes. When they sell, I get an email and type in bar codes then. I often list multiple games at a time and I'm too lazy to type in 10-20 bar codes at once.

You'll still get the tickets. Electronic delivery just means they'll come with nude old man pics.

I'm 99.9% sure they sell e-mail/street addresses to various teams and Universities.  That's not really a terrible thing, but I do find it hilarious how I now get all kinds of e-mail blasts and direct mailers from the likes of Virginia, Illinois, the Washington Nationals, St Louis Cardinals, et cetera.  All teams or schools where I have bought a ticket off of StubHub.

They dont sell your info to places.  When you purchase the tickets to any team event, there is a box at the bottom that says you want to receive info from said team.  I have bought tickets to hundreds of different sporting events over the years and have forgotten to uncheck it from time to time.  I get emails from many different pro and sports teams on a daily basis.

I use stubhub all the time.  Highly recommend.   Their staff will almost always respond within 24 hours if you have a question.

I bought two tickets on StubHub for the Minnesota game and had the same delivery method.  The tickets I bought for my wife and I said "Electronic Delivery" and "With Expected Upload NLT Sep 26th".

It just so happens that I got an email from StubHub today with my tickets.  It'll say "Download Your Tickets - Order # - - - - - - - - - -" and you'll need Adobe Reader to open and print them off.  So mine came a few weeks ahead of schedule....  Good luck!

I bought a couple of tickets to the Rutgers game a little while ago; the tickets took a couple of days to get emailed to me, but they definitely arrived pretty quickly.

Has anyone ever had an issue with someone else's name on the tickets? I clearly bought some Rugter season ticket holder's tickets, so my tickets have his name on them. I assume that's not a problem, but I don't know if ticket takers check.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the replies. I've got family coming in on a variety of long trips for this so it's good to hear the guarantee is pretty solid.

Have gotten into the buying and selling tickets. 10 years ago I could get decent prices on stubhub for Michigan road games at IA and IL. But since '09 investors started to buy up tickets and sell them for quite a bit more. And most B1G schools that Michigan play have stop selling single season tickets and now make packages of 3 or more games.
