RIP Stuart

I always thought he was unique in the Golden Age of Sportscenter. Most of the anchors since have failed miserably at trying to duplicate his uniqueness and Sportscenter is stale.

He was one of the voices from when I was younger and first started following sports. I used to get up an hour early starting in 3rd or 4th grade so I could watch Sportscenter, and he was a big reason why. He gave a great speech at I think the ESPYs a few months ago, but for some reason I thought he was doing better. It was quite a shock to hear this news this morning. Hopefully his family can find comfort in how much he touched the lives of others.

just did a tribute on SportCenter showing his introduction and excerpts of a speech he did at a show involving the JimmyV Foundation.  It brought me to tears as I watched, especially when invited his 14-year-old daughter up to the stage for a hug.

Rest In Peace, Stuart Scott.  You are one of the best.

RIP Stu...always thought he had the most fun while on SC and always looked like he was having a great time.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

This is awful news. Him and Rich Eisen were a staple of Sportscenter in the late 90s. It's awful for his family, he was quite young. Cancer sucks.

In fact. Got a little emotional over this one this morning. As a sports fan, he was a joy to watch and listen to, he had so much enthusiasm and talent and most of all love for his family and his craft, it's difficult to see that come to an end. They just showed a tribute video and you can see how he was unabashedly loved by his friends/colleagues. His daughter coming on stage at the ESPYs was ... are there words? Unbelievably sad and inspiring at the same time.

I shed quite a few tears myself upon hearing the news while watching NFL Countdown and all the guys were giving him tribute and you could tell how much he was loved from their reactions and trying to hold back the tears.

So sad, you mentioned "cooler than the other side of the pillow", he also had the famous line about being smooth, like butter.

RIP Stu, I know I will miss you, condolences to his family.

49 years old. Tragic. I remember using my video camera to tape Stu's Sportscenter broadcast on the tv when we won the National Championship. I still have that tape. Booyah Stu. RIP. God bless your family and friends.

No matter how bad his cancer made him feel, Stuart Scott didn't let it keep him down. He lived his life to the fullest, and we all benefitted from it. He was hands down the best anchor on Sportscenter, and he will be missed. Prayers to his family, especially his two daughters.

for Stuart's family and friend. He was one of my favorites on ESPN.  Rest in peace Stuart.

Don't like touse theword "suck," but in this case when referring to cancer, it IS appropriate.

This is very sad, sobering news this morning.

Stuart Scott was, as the article says, someone who made sportscasting cool by giving it a definite style and direction on SportsCenter and other shows through the year. His contributions were many and he will definitely be missed.

Stuart Scott was a SportsCenter staple when I first started watching--I thought he was really great at the time. I remember seeing that he got into MMA training and was looking in pretty good health, but cancer doesn't always betray its havoc on the outside. My condolences to his family.

Sweet sassy molassey! This is terrible news to wake up to. It got a little weird when he developed that lazy eye a while back, but Stuart has to be in the Top 5 of Sportscenter anchors.
