Stu Douglass and DeShawn Sims teammates in Israel

Submitted by MBAgoblue on

Every so often I check Wikipedia to see where former Michigan basketball players have landed in international leagues.

This year Stu Douglass and DeShawn Sims are playing together for Hapoel Gilboa Galil in Gan Ner, Israel. DeShawn is starting at PF and Stu is coming off the bench at PG.

I've been on the fence for a long time, but this definitely seals it: Hapoel Gilboa Galil is now my favorite Israel Super League club.

There are a few names on that roster in addition to Sims and Douglass. Kenny Boynton  (Florida) and Rick Jackson (Syracuse) also play on the same team. Not bad at all.

If anyone is interested in some of the team stats for this league, that page is here (HERE). A look at the standings shows that Gilboa is 7-7 currently.

Wasn't Sims playing well in the D-league? I was hoping he'd make an NBA roster. Sidenote: I saw Deshaun Thomas is playing in France. I really thought he'd be a good bench player in the league, with his ability to get buckets.

Frankly it's less dangerous than many cities in the US. General crime is a lot lower and you only get the dicey parts of life there from the news, which overplays it pretty significantly.

The real credit to them is they are living in the Israeli version of bumblefuck. Nice visual asthetic and some great little towns, but a fantastic pain in the ass to get to.

I don't think this was posted here either: Darius Morris is back in the NBA, after signing a 10-day contract with the Clippers: Former Lakers point guard Darius Morris hoping to stick with Clippers

Morris has just over a week to impress the Clippers. Teams can sign a player for another 10-day contract before having to either commit for the rest of the season -- or let them go.

Morris stays grounded in his faith and strong work ethic.

"I can't wait, tomorrow I'll get to practice and try to get this playbook down," he said.

Also, Manny Harris was named D-League performer of the week, earlier this week

For the season, Harris is now averaging just under 28 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and more than two steals in nine games with the D-Fenders. He has put up at least 21 points in every game this season.
