Streaming

Submitted by Meeechigan Dan on
Let me apologize up front for either asking a question that has already been answered or not searching effectively. I am on my Blackberry and so I am taking the lazy way out. I will be in a location tomorrow without TV access. I will only have my laptop and a 3G card. Is it possible to stream a football game with a relatively low bandwidth connection? If so what recommendations for where to stream the game? I have had people tell me about JustinTV.com. Again, sorry for any redundancy. Thanks for your help.

it's justin.tv (no dotcom) there's also ustream.tv or if you don't mind downloading an application or two you could try a sopcast / vlc combo where a list of streamers are posted at forums.myp2p.eu or something like that just google myp2p and navigate to the college football forum some secondary sites that carry ustream and justin are channelsurfing.net and ATDHE.net but those are only client embedded aggregators.

I assume from your post you want to watch on your laptop (with 3G card), not your blackberry. In short, I'd go for Slingbox first, if you don't mind shelling out for one and setting it up before Sat - the long term payoff is there. Second, you can try espn360.com, but I doubt it will have a distribution deal with your wireless card provider. You can check here: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/index?id=292460152 If neither of the above two work for you, you can try the non-official online streaming sites such as Justin.tv, channelsurfing.net, or atdhe.net There is more info in a couple of threads from last week here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/streaming-games and here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/site-watch-game-over-internet Good luck!
