Stevie Brown working his way back...
Nice article in the NYTimes about Stevie Brown's comeback. No major news, but he's on schedule, presumabely in time for the start of the season.

Ugh, preseason injuries suck so hard.
With the Giants releasing Will Hill, Brown is going to get that much more time on the field. He was killing it a couple seasons ago, hopefully he can get back to breaking turn over records.
He was on my dynasty fantasy football team, or I should say he still is. He had a great year for me in 2012. I hope he returns to form. I also recommend everyone join a dynasty fantasy football league, especially one with IDP's. It's like running a real team!

I remember hearing about this when it happened but I don't think we got much in the way of updates around here in the interim, so it is great to see that he's on track and hopefully able to return to being a difference maker on defense. Even in his days here, I always thought Brown had some good pro potential, and he's capitalized on chances to show that so far - he's still a player I like to watch whenever possible.
NFL is a ruthless league, especially for guys that aren't stars. One injury like this can indirectly end a career. Hopefully he's back to full speed this year so he can stay around a while.

I was standing behind someone in the security line at LaGuardia a few weeks ago who had a Giants logo on his bag. I didn't recognize him, but he was tall and healthy-looking... Security lines are long and boring at LGA, so I figured why not:
I asked if he was a fan or a genuine Giant. He smiled and said he was a coach, coaching DBs. The first thing that popped out of my mouth: "How's Stevie?" His face brightened: "Doing great!" Naturally I had to confess I was a Michigan fan. "I bet you've been counting all his interceptions." I admitted I had, and then he added, "And we have Ryan Mundy, too!" Although I follow (and root for) Mundy too, I thought I should clarify that Mundy didn't actually graduate from Michigan. Coach laughed, "And Stevie never lets him forget it." [Mundy's gone to the Bears, but still... Love the picture of their interplay, and that Mundy still thinks of himself as a Michigan man.]
Not surprising that Coach Merritt is one of Stevie's reasons for wanting to stay a Giant, and nice that he says so:
Brown credits Dave Merritt, the coach in charge of the secondary and safeties, with bringing out game-changing abilities he always felt he had. Merritt urged him to focus more on his responsibilities and the part of the field assigned to him, Brown said, instead of worrying about protecting against breakdowns elsewhere.
