Steve Lorenz Projected 2-Deep (Via Twitter Video)
He seems to be a respected insider around here, so figured I would pass it on.

Positions of recent debate:
QB: Speight
LT: Bredeson
Not Necessarily Debated but up in the air because of all the big names... (Formatted as 1st, 2nd).
WDE: Charlton, Winowich
3-Tech: Wormley, Hurst Jr
1-Tech: Glasgow, Mone
SDE: Gary, Godin
Rest of it is as I had seen before.

gary, wow he did it
August 30th, 2016 at 12:12 AM ^
surprise surprise.....

Bredeson and Gary in key positions that are usually associated with upperclassmen.
As Harbaugh promised, if you are ready you will start, even as a Freshman. That can't hurt recruiting.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:12 PM ^
May not be the starters by game #3. In a meritocracy you get an opportunity but you have to continue to outperform your back-up to stay a starter.
My guess is at least of one the two-deep listed (if accurate) has a change in it once we play a few games. And I'm assuming no injuries.

Kinnel as backup at both safety spots.

That's good for him. It's not so good for the rest of us.

Dymonte Thomas... Oh well the best will play
August 29th, 2016 at 10:13 PM ^
Was newsome 2nd at LT? And what's this mean for newsome? Another year of development? Moved to RT? Guard?
Not sure whether this is good news for next year or not. Happy for whatever makes the team better this year but can't help but think what it means for the lone next year
August 29th, 2016 at 10:14 PM ^
Who cares about next year? We haven't even started 2016.
August 29th, 2016 at 11:58 PM ^
Given the number of starters that we are losing, I imagine Harbaugh is quite interested in getting some backups some quality reps.
August 30th, 2016 at 11:14 AM ^
This is a concept that has always eluded me. Getting backups in game action against Hawaii, is that a quality rep? I would almost trust that a practice between the 1s for Michigan is better than playing backups in a 48-3 game against Hawaii who has already probably packed it in.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:16 PM ^
Means we get two viable tackle options back next year. Not sure what the concern is.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:45 PM ^
well we need to replace three OL next year so all isn't lost for Newsome
August 29th, 2016 at 11:22 PM ^
We are going to need him next year at tackle and moving forward. Bredeson can always move to guard but you lose Magnuson next year at one of the tackle spots.
August 29th, 2016 at 11:48 PM ^
Let's not get too agitated here - again, the depth chart is rarely if ever the depth chart, and a projected depth may never be the depth chart, even if I do happen to think Lorenz might be pretty spot on in several cases at least.
I can't wait until the TV cuts away to Ann Arbor with about 7-8 minutes to go before gametime and we find out who the QB is based on who happens to be taking snaps at that moment. That's how it more or less happened last year. Very Harbaugh indeed.

Don't count on the tv, come to the game with us!

can magnus or whoever weigh in here... why is winovich bulking up and playing DE,when we have big need at LB and he is supposedly a good LB...
August 30th, 2016 at 12:09 AM ^
My guess is for heavy teams like Wisconsin, he may move to more of a Sam role to take on the run/blockers and Peppers will play more of a safety role. For most (i.e., spread) opponents, speed is at more of a premium on defense so Peppers can play that role.
We'll see different personnel in different spots based on opponent, down/distance, etc. At least that is my understanding.
August 30th, 2016 at 11:52 AM ^
Noah Furbush will be coming in for heavy sets. So while Winovich may be a good LB it would appear Furbush is better so why waste him on the bench?
August 30th, 2016 at 1:05 AM ^
I'm guessing because he isn't all that great at LB, or else they wouldn't have moved him first to TE and then to DE.
August 30th, 2016 at 7:36 AM ^
then I guess osu whiffed on him too at lb

I will throw you a wrinkle at LG this Saturday. I know Ben has some serious bumps and bruises. We'll see.....

You know what......checking. Nice pick up.
Edit: here's why...5th and 6th best OL are Bredeson and Newsome.
Nice catch Dr!!

I'm so confused. Oh well, 4 more days.
August 30th, 2016 at 9:30 AM ^
Exactly. I've started to tune this stuff out and actually do work at work because we'll all know for sure in less than a week.
All the decisions have been made, we'll know about them really soon.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:51 PM ^
Pales in comparison to your work lately. Can't wait for Saturday!

I need to run it to ground. I have preached best players see the field and this makes too much sense. I will report back on this one. Have to admit, I filled next up with Onwenu at LG and not Dawson.
August 29th, 2016 at 11:47 PM ^
Good instincts.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:32 PM ^
Onwenu?
August 29th, 2016 at 10:49 PM ^
I think that's what he's saying based on another comment in the freshman starters thread. Just a hunch.
August 30th, 2016 at 7:24 AM ^
Your insider information makes me feel dirty. I hope Harbaugh doesn't get his hands on you.
August 29th, 2016 at 10:28 PM ^
Fuck. I knew Harbaugh's reaction to the injury question wasn't a good scene.

What was his reaction?
August 29th, 2016 at 11:06 PM ^
It wasn't awful. But, he'll usually say the team is healthy if the team is healthy and today he clearly didn't want to talk about it.

Delivery was flawless.
When you have earned credibility, then yes you get to make statements that the rest of us can't just make without mountians of backup.
That's how it works, it's perfectly fair.
August 30th, 2016 at 10:54 AM ^
If I posted that info, I'd get smeared and deserve it
August 30th, 2016 at 12:07 PM ^
