He's a bigger donor than anyone who doesn't like Coach Rod. Plus, he's absolutely right and for many of the same reasons that have been discussed on this board. The man's a proven winner and we need to stick with him if we want to start competing for national championships again.

For some reason I feel that Ross, Martin, and MSC have a litle more credibility then Rosenberg, Valenti/Foster, and Wilbon.

... isn't a big donor, he's one of the biggest, if not the biggest.
Working on baseless assumptions here, but most of our BIG donors are going to be successful business folks and business people understand the importance of stability and difficulty of change.
Edit: Just read the blog, and I gotta say I'm irritated. They buried the positive quote at the bottom of the article and put the threatening one at the top, although I am confident this is not how Ross meant it. Why are all journalists acting like gossip columnists these days? Geez...

Stephen Ross donated $100 million to the Business School which is the largest donation ever given to the University and may be the largest gift to any business school in the country. As I understand his gift was spread over time so it is possible Bill Davidson's donation of $20 million (also to the B school) is the largest immediate donation. As most know Bill Davidson passed away earlier this year. Ross has also donated over $5 million to the athletic department. Michigan's administration has been fortunate that most large donors have not been interested in meddling in the athletic department which further underscores the "Michigan Difference" and supports the assumption that Michigan administrators from Bill Martin to Mary Sue Coleman to the Board of Regents make their decisions without influence from donors.

It was the largest donation ever to a business school until last year.....some hedge-fund guy donated $300M to the University of Chicago Business School. With the way financial markets have been in the past year, I am guessing he regrets his decision.....

I believe among those of us with the merest semblance of football smarts, there is a common belief that RichRod gets another year with no questions asked. To do otherwise would be foolhardy. Here is Ross's quote from the ESPN article which suggests that there will be a lot more pressure put on RR on next year if there isn't tangible progress.
"If he has a bad year next year, he'll have a lot more pressure," Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told The Associated Press, standing near midfield before the Wolverines lost to Ohio State on Saturday to finish 5-7. "I don't think he has anything to worry about right now in my mind."

I love Michigan football. and too see someone like mr. ross standing up and expressing how he feels about the situation wont just make rich rod more comfortable it will make the people like myself who believe that another change will only set us back even more. with that said i believe rich rod will turn it around. the witch hunt may never end but if he endures and gets through it he will become legendary.

Nothing says you can't use at least basic grammar here, like caps to start a sentence etc. If nothing else it will make it easier to decipher what you are saying.

RR didn't suddenly lose thirty points of IQ when he got here, but Terry Foster apparently did. Foster is usually pretty level-headed. That "piece," though, is one of the worst things I've seen out of him.

great to see a positive article like this. its not the negative articles themselves that bother me...but the national perception that they create, that uofm fball fans aren't behind rich rod when support seems so strong in reality.
