Stephen Hopkins name pronunciation?
Just watched the scrimmage video and heard Rodriguez pronounce his name like "Stefan" whereas the voiceover pronounced it the way it looks. Anyone know which one is right. I always assumed it was the latter. Is this due to Rodriguez's little bit of drawl, or have I been pronouncing it wrong this whole time?
It's been mentioned once or twice in the past sometime that it's "Stefan" not "Steven" but I don't remember when.
I think "Stefan" is right. RR knows him much more than the Announcers do, so I'm sure RR knows the correct pronunciation. I know a few people who pronounce it like Stefan even though it's spelled Stephen.
Consider me to be not one of those people.
it's pronounced Joseph
the t is silent i guess.
Mr. Madison: "Rock? R-O-K?"
Billy: "Yeah, what?"
Mr. Madison: "R-O-C-K!"
Billy: {smiling}"Ohhh, the C is silent..."
I have it on good authority that his name is pronounced Linebacker Killer.
really? i had heard it was pronounced BULL DOZER.
Barwis pronunces it; "Two more reps Nancy!"
It does not really matter...all we will hear is "Hopkins takes it in for the touchdown!"
It's "Hopkins takes THEM for the touchdown!" - 'them' being the Ohio State linebackers and safeties that he is dragging, clutched to his ankles and legs.
i heard its pronounced brandon minor 2.0, bigger, stronger, healthier
RR would know better than anyone else. He should be right on this one.
but I know it's the one that says "BAD MOTHER F**CKER" on it.
I can't even tell you how much I love this post. Both for its reference to one of my favorite parts of one of my favorite movies, but also just because it fits the way he runs so well. Kudos
"Stephan" not "Steven."
stefan, stephan, not steven
So do u call him "steph" for short or is that too femnine? "Hop" is better.
"Mack Truck" might be more fitting.
Is it Stefan or Stefen?
I always thought Stephen was pronounced like Stefen until I met someone who Spelled it Stephen, but pronounced it Steven. Stephan (like Marbury) is just something else altogether.
It's Stephon Marbury, which I think is chinese.
Chinese...That's awesome!
Still don't know if Stephen is pronounced like Marbury's given 1st name though.
I'm just confused with all these new pronunciations thrown in. It seemed like this would be helpful but I guess not. Thanks guys.
Seriously though, thanks for the help.
I think it's pronounced "Stuffin" as in "He's stuffin' the ball down Greg Jones' throat for a 12-yard gainer!"
I find it funny that you think that "Stephen" looks like it should be pronounced "Steven" instead of "Stefan".
"Steven" is the common pronunciation for that name.
I know, but that is not how it "looks".
My current roommate is named Stephen (pronounced Steven) and he claims it's 50/50.
I woulda thought 60/40 for sure.
I've heard his high school coach use the "Stefan" pronunciation as well.
RR calls his players whatever he wants
he is actually Steve Urkel's uber-cool alter-ego.
a decent clip, but was anyone else thinking of Steve Erkel/Stefan Arkell from family matters?
you were referring to this...?
that's the clip i was looking for. Also, above me posted as I had the search for youtube open in my other tab and beat me to it...
+1 for both
LEE-roi HOURD
Phoenetically, of course.
This is important because the announcer is going to have to figure out how to say it when he scores all his touchdowns next year.
My son is named Stephen - pronounced "Steven". Pronunciation is optional but I believe "Steven" is far more prevalent. Maybe a regional/ancestral thing.
This kid looks like he can really truck some fools. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't get a good number of touches this fall.
One thing is clear - we are going to have fresh legs at RB every game, all game long.
he reminds me of anthony thomas. if he can hold on to ball i think he will be just fine, regardless of the pronuciation of his name.
I don't know, but for me I can't see # 33 running with the ball without shouting "Hold on to the ball Leroy!"
