This is pretty tame for Sparty. I once saw a Sparty fan punch another Sparty fan b/c he wanted Keith Nichols to start at QB over Cousins. Other guy disagreed...

I was thinking the same thing. He sounds so hardcore talking about someone else taking out Gardner, but if Devin was lead blocking on him then Jim would get pancaked on his ass and probably injure something in the process, too. What a little turd.

when you have nothing to look forward to.  Big game under the lights? - Nope.  Top 100 recruits visiting campus? - Nope     National exposure and big time bowl games? - Nope   Exciting offense with playmakers and potential heisman candidate? - Nope        They are a garbage team playing in a garbage bowl stadium.  It's a dump, the team is one of the most unsexy, shit programs/destinations in major college football.  Hence, the best they can aspire to is injuring the players (See Gholston) of a traditional power that they wish would reciprocate an acknowledgement of some sort of rivalry - unsuccessful to this point.

This pretty much sums it up.  The past few weeks (and last year) fully laid bare the self-delusional nonsense that fanbase has been feeding itself since the Kirk Cousins high water mark set a few years back.  Now that we've reclaimed their most fertile recruiting grounds and started playing defense, they are left with nothing but the realization that a return to mediocrity beckons.  When that's all you've got left, you start grasping at whatever you can.

Haven't you heard?  Notre Dame's defense, which was ranked Top 10 last seaosn and got them into the National Title game, is vastly inferior to Michigan State's defense and when Michigan comes to East Lansing, Sparty is going to shut Gardner and Gallon down and Calhoun is going to make Taylor Lewan his bitch.  Done deal, it's science, folks.

Actually, this is what you say when you know a thing or two about football. Seriously, what's wrong with Comparoni's comments? Maybe people are just interpreting his message the wrong way -- which speaks as much to their (*ahem* YOUR) inability to comprehend what they read as it does to anything else.

Did Comparoni advocate for an illegal play to be made? In fact, he did not. You simply disagree with his suggestion -- which was to discourage Michigan's use of Gardner as a lead-blocker by "playing hardball." If you don't like it, there are a couple ways you can go about resolving the issue. For one, you could write a letter to Delany letting him know you want Quarterbacks to be untouchable; secondly, you could write a letter to Hoke letting him know you don't want your indispensable Quarterback running plays where the opposing team has a good opportunity to knock your QB out of the game in a perfectly legal manner. If neither of those options are enticing, you could just continue to complain. Something tells me you'll do just that.

As far as the [poorly] attempted belittlement of Michigan State goes:

Michigan State has plenty to look forward to (i.e., potentially beating Michigan for the fifth time in the past six years).

"Big game under the lights?" I'd say Notre Dame's a pretty big game -- the same Notre Dame that, you know, feels that Michigan State is important enough to renew their contract (unfortunately, Michigan couldn't edge Purdue out in the importance category).

"Top-100 recruits visiting campus?" I'll make a play on your lack of attention to specificity. Michigan State did, in fact, have a pair of top-100 recruits on campus last week: Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker. Granted, I've always thought Booker was a Michigan lock -- then I thought about it: A top basketball recruit having a desire to play for Michigan, of all teams...? It just doesn't make sense. But I digress.

"National exposure and big time bowl games?" I'd say Michigan State's getting some national exposure; partly for their horrific offense, and partly for having one of the best defensive units in the nation once again. Big time bowl games? Yet to be seen.

"Exciting offensive players and potential Heisman candidate?" How'd those 'exciting' RichRod offensive players turn out? Potential Heisman candidates? Nobody in the Big Ten has one, so that's not much of an insult.

"Garbage team in a garbage stadium." A 'garbage team' that has outscored Michigan by an average of about two touchdowns per game over the past half-decade. Garbage stadium? Michigan State has spent more than any other program in the Big Ten on state-of-the-art stadium renovations over the past five years. And I hope you're not screaming from the third row of the Out House, where your whining will fall shy of the field thanks to the horrific architectural design of your pre-historic stadium.

"Hence, the best they can aspire to is injuring the players (See Gholston)..."

Or, you know, beating their rivals. Which they've done with a moderate amount of success over the past five years having an overall winning record against their first, second, and third largest rivals (Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Ohio State, respectively), as well as dominating the obscure in-staters (CMU, EMU, WMU, and UofM) throughout that timespan.

"... a traditional power that they wish would reciprocate an acknowledgement of some sort of rivalry - unsuccessful to this point."

You appear to have convinced yourself not only that Michigan is a traditional power (lol), but that Michigan State would benefit from Michigan "acknowledging" that there's some sort of rivalry between the two schools. Methinks the Michigan State populous finds your overly eccentric attempts to convey contempt rather humorous -- "Hey, Michigan State, we don't care about you. In fact, you're not even a rival to us! Just wanted you to know. Did you hear? Okay, just making sure, because we don't care! Not even a little bit! YOU HEAR ME? HEY! LISTEN TO ME DAMMIT!"

Oh, and thanks for this comment, by the way. It's the perfect example to use when I'm trying to explain the terms "pompous," "delusional," "misinformed," "self-aggrandizing," and "cognitively inept."

To make this easier for people to respond, I'll summarize your arguments here.

1. There was nothing wrong with what Comparoni said, since "Bust [knees] Doss style vs Willis McGahee" isn't explicitly banned in the rules.

2. Rather than talk on a message board, the ways to address this issue are to write a letter to Delany telling him that Quarterbacks (sic) should be untouchable or writing a letter to Hoke telling him that we don't want our Quarterback (sic) running around like that.

3. The reason that Notre Dame stopped the Michigan series is because it believes the MSU and Purdue games are more important than the Michigan game.

4. No top basketball recruit would want to play at Michigan.

5. No one in the Big Ten has a Heisman candidate, and Gardner isn't one because RichRod's exciting offensive players didn't turn out well.

6. Spartan Stadium is vastly superior to Michigan Stadium.

7. MSU football should be measured by its performance in the past five years against Michigan.

8. MSU thinks that it has rivalries with Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

9. Michigan is not a traditional football power.

10. Michigan fans are pompous, delusional, misinformed, self-aggrandizing, and cognitively inept.

If you're going to visit a new message board to leave a shoddy rationalization for terrible behavior, it's only polite to keep it under 1000 words. And, you know, vaguely on-topic.

Also, vis-a-vis the actual rationalization bit of your screed: arguments against intentionally injuring people McGahee-style don't necessarily rest on the NCAA rule book. Some minimal shred of morality might also enter in.

They're scared. They saw what Michigan did last night to a pretty damn good ND defense and are shaking scared.

Their shit offense won't be able to move the ball since they can't even move it on a team that got destroyed by something called a McNeese State. Their kicker is garbage so they will be lucky to score period.

My biggest issue is this guy is paid much like guys like Webb, Lorenz and others. Should be held to a different standard. Taking shots at college athletes at the position he is in is aboslutely pathetic.

Dude shouldn't even have a job

If it is any consolation, after he typed that up, he did come over and spray my lawn with fertilizer and weed killer. So, at least he was on time.

spart. Stuff like this is why the title litte brother will always be appropriate for MSU. He is probally just jealous that Michigan actually has a QB who can make plays.

Honestly wouldn't put it past Dantoino and his bands of goons to try and injure Devin though, they did resort to dirty stuff against Denard.

Yup, I wiould almost put money on them doing some dirty or questionable stuff. Especially when the game is in Lansing. I can't wait for their season to come crashing down. It will happen and they are on borrowed time with that offense.

Hoke will never say Sparty pulls some bullshit on the field (punching Lewan comes nowhere near twisting Denard's face mask like that). He will say rivalry games are physical, and Dantonio will chalk it up to his players being passionate. Face mask twisting and dirty bullshit isn't passionate, it's just dirty bullshit that I'm sure Narduzzi and Dantonio are advocates for during the Michigan game.

Obviously the comment is utter garbage, but it's presented without context.  Did the other posters on the site shut him down at least?  Occasionally you see people posting bullshit that ignorant here but it doesn't necessarily reflect on the entire community.

If he were some random poster this would not be an issue. The issue is that he is paid to cover college football and should therefore act with at least a slight degree of professionalism. If this were Sam Webb (who would never say something like this, hopefully) then I would hope not only that other posters would go after him, but that he would be fired, as I wouldn't want anyone whose name is frequently associated with Michigan (despite no official tie to the university) to utter such bile.
