and well-deserved.  Am hoping for the shocker that he stays to catch a lottery pick in 2015, but am ready to say a heartfelt thanks and wish him the best in the NBA.

It was great watching him shoot and be surprised when it didn't go down. He should have a spot in the NBA for a long time. There's always a place for shooters.

That clinches his place as a consensus second-team All-American for 2013-14. He's the first Wolverine with that honor in 20 years. Here's the full list:

  • Cazzie Russell - 1964
  • Bill Buntin - 1965
  • Henry Wilmore - 1972
  • Campy Russell - 1974
  • Phil Hubbard - 1977
  • Glen Rice - 1989
  • Rumeal Robinson - 1990
  • Jalen Rose - 1994
  • Nik Stauskas - 2014

That is not a bad list of names at all.

Congratulations to Nik on another honor! I had thought that the other day he made the Lute Olson All-America Team as well, but I might have missed any thread on it due to the Tournament activity here. Still, the list of honors is long and well-deserved for Stauskas.

The AP actually names three teams (see this); Harris and Payne got only honorable mention (although someone voted Payne first team).

Stauskas was the only Big Ten player to be named first-, second-, or third-team All-American by one of the four major organizations (AP, USBWA, NABC, and Sporting News) used by the NCAA to determine the "official" consensus All-Americans. See this Wikipedia article for a full rundown.

This is the second year in a row that Beilein has churned out a 3* to All American product with only two years of development. Not only is this a testament to our coaching staff's talent evaluation and coaching, but to the culture that is being bred at Michigan. Coaching only goes so far - Nick worked his tail off to get where he is today. Congratulations!

I hope all of his hard work and great play puts more $$$ in his pocket when he is a high draft pick this year.

Great year for Nik, for sure. Really had an incredible year. Glad he's repping our program too.
