State of Michigan HS wrestling finals
Looks like it is setting up to be another nice day for St. Johns. Third team championship as well as ranked #3 in the country. I'm a proud alumni and former wrestler. Go Redwings.
St Johns is crazy good. They only lost to National power St. Edward from that state down south. If they have a weakness it's at the heaviest 3 weight classes
Ugh, St. Johns. Go Marauders!
Any "Mike Martin" types in there? I know they don't grow on trees but who knows.
Adam Coon (Div. Two 285lbs Junior from Fowlerville) is going for his third State Title in three years! He's a Beast!
Michigan needs him. He will be an outstanding heavyweight in college. Only a junior, watch out for him in the future. Is he a Michigan
Fan?
He's from State territory. It think his college choice is still up in the air right now. I will definitely find out though.
His dad had a decent relationship with MSU while Chris Williams wrestled for them but I don't know if that would be a strong enough leaning for Adam to go there if he had a chance at a degree and program on the upswing at U of M vs MSU.
Adam's been around wrestling since he could walk so his success isn't a huge surpise but still pretty awesome. Congrats to your cousin for his accomplishments regardless of the outcome today. Your uncle Dan was my high school coach at FHS and a major influence on me in those formative years. Wish I could have produced better for him in the W column.
Has 2 guys in the division 4 finals at 152 and 160 both bouts against Hudson. Hudson has had a good program for a while but sand creek looks to be an up and coming program.
Win another one for MHS
Brock, we're pulling for you nephew.
That's my alma mater. I live out of state now and haven't really kept up on them anymore. I never wrestled but in the early 2000's they won a few state titles. Anyone know if their still any good?
Oh yeah. They're still good. They didn't win state this year, but still a force. The youth program there is great so that translates into great high school wrestlers
Detroit Catholic Central won the team wrestling state championship!
Alec Mooradian is going for his 4th straight title from Catholic Central
Mooradian threw his 2nd place medal in the garbage after his match. #classy
My high school failed again to get back to the state finals (Bedford). Haven't won a state title since 2001
Wins over a wrestler from Lowell with a take down in the final seconds. 3-1.
There is a live video feed for anyone who wants to watch the action:
ALL four of the kids mentioned in the first post of this string captured MHSAA championships today, and all 4 are headed to Ann Arbor this fall; Jordan Thomas won a thriller, capturing his 3rd MHSAA title. Ben Whitford pinned his way through to the final, and then nearly TKO'd his opponent in the final; It was his 3rd state title (2 in Illinois, & 1 in MI). Taylor Massa pinned his way through the Palace competition, including a 1st period pin in the final match; 4 straight MHSAA titles for him. And Latora also won a championship; I'm not as familiar with his HS career, but he was outstanding.... WOW.
