Starting Rosters - No P.A. Announcements

Submitted by Brhino on
Has anyone else noticed that so far this year, the starting lineups for each team have not been verbally announced over the speakers? They used to do this for as long as I can remember. It was a nice chance to cheer extra loud for your favorite players and shout "who cares?!" for the opposing roster (which is a little tacky, sure, but still fun). I noticed this at the first game when I was wondering how the crowd would react to RichRod's name being announced after a disastrous season and the freep stuff, but he never got announced. In fact, maybe that's why they stopped doing it, because they were afraid the coach would get booed. Just seems like a weird thing to stop doing. With EMU coming to town this coming Saturday, it would be nice to be able to give Ron English a welcome back, but it doesn't look like we'll get the chance.

I'm very interested in finding out why as well. This was one of my favorite parts of the pre-game experience, cheering loudly for Michigan's players, "Who cares?"-ing the opposing players, and getting a brief introduction to names and numbers for the opposition.

I thought in the WMU game it might have been because they did not know what the reaction might be when RR was introduced. But, that certainly was not the case on Saturday.
