What I wish could workout
LT - Omameh
LG - QWash
C - Molk
RG - Barnum
RT - Schilling
Expected line up
RG- Huyge or Barnum
RT- Dorrstein or Huyge
What do you guys think?
I hope for the best offensive line, whether that contains Quinton Washington or Bryant Nowicki.
Yeah, I don't get Brian's hope for list. Whoever starts, all it indicates is how good they are relative to the other options. It isn't a relevant indication of how good we'll be against other teams.
I think that the idea behind the "hope for list" was simply that it would be nice to see that our younger talent, or that with the highest upside, players were developing to the point where they were the best on our team. It would bode well, not only for improvement over last season, but for excellent line play for the next 2-3 years.
Yeah I get that, but if we see young players starting it could just as easily mean that the upperclassmen went backward or made no progress.
Maybe that's unlikely, but the point remains, a young player starting only says something about his development relative to the other players. Also what do we know about a given player's upside? Sometimes the top 100 guy has the upside of Adam Patterson and the 3* guy has the upside of David Harris, but we only realize it when they're upperclassmen.
This is correct: "a young player starting only says something about his development relative to the other players." But having seen those "other players" play, we already know something about them: like how good they are compared to other teams' lineman, and maybe former Michigan lineman. They offer a known benchmark, against which we can measure the young guys (sure the "other players" could theoretically have gotten better or worse since last year, but likely not by much...at this point we pretty much know what they're about).
Think of it this way: if Nick Sheridan had started the first game (or the first 6 games) this past season, wouldn't that have told you something about Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson?
it would have told me that I needed to find a new hobby on Saturday afternoons. After 2008 I couldn't bear anymore.
Best 5. Doesn't matter who they are.
you somehow left out Arizona Blue from that starting lineup. I will use as much HGH as it takes.
as it was hidden on the front page:
In detail position battles on the O-line and specific predictions and what will likely happen.
So, he should post this as a comment on that post.
we don't need every schmoe off the street with their depth chart predictions, its very KeM0 like.
If you do want to start an entire new thread to discuss a topic that was just brought up on the front page, bring something more than a list. Bring some reasons, analysis for your post, otherwise its just clutters up the board and makes it more likely good posts will be missed.
If you don't like a post do what I do and don't click on it. If you click on one and find out that you don't like it, click off of the post. No need to waste your time and tell people that you don't like their post.
I am going with:
LT - Lewan (Jake v2.0)
LG - Barnum/QWash
C - Molk
RG - Schilling
RT - Omameh
Oh and guys, please stay healthy!!!!
Koyote's is my wish list. If Lewan can step in at LT everything falls into place from day one. If not, then we have Omameh, Barnum, Huyge, Dorrestein, QWash and possibly Ferrera playing musical chairs for 3 spots.
Also, it appears that Omameh may be the future "2-star that became a star" example everyone uses when talking about over-emphasis on recruit rankings.
Schilling played tackle before and was pretty meh. He's a guard all the way; he has the LG position locked down. The lineup I'd expect to see:
LT - Omameh
LG - Schilling
RG - Barnum
RT - Huyge
Say a prayer for Molk's extremities and trust the rest will work out.
Do you mean appendages?
Either term will work.
Who's the back-up center? Can he snap?
We'll probably see at the spring game cause Molk wont be 100% yet, I believe.
Christian Pace is an EE. Not sure if he will be ready after only a few months.
I think it's only Rocko Khoury at this point -- only Molk, Moosman, and Khoury snapped last year; and IIRC, Khoury only got in the Del. St. game. Pace will be red-shirted, but is going to be Molk-2.0 (small, angry, mean, and good)
Not sure if we have any other lineman who've worked at Center on the roster.
He got some snaps at center in the Western and Eastern games.
Mealer practiced at center a little bit last year, so I'd assume he's the third-stringer there.
Barnum was projected as a center coming out of high school, but he's been a guard and a tackle in college. I guess he'd be an emergency option, but hopefully we don't have to worry about that.
No thank you (No offense to Mr. Schilling) but that wasn't good the last time we tried that....
Agreed, he is an okay guard, not a good tackle.
How come we seem to get more then our fair share of those that do miss? Not saying Schilling has been bad just hasn't lived up to the hype.
