If one were to become the official cap of Michigan athletics, which would you prefer?

Agreed. My Nike hats are far better. ...and just to be clear, so are my Adidas and UA hats. When I think of New Era, I think of fitted hats that shrink when you sweat and don't breath worth a crap. They might be quality built hats, but they aren't near as comfortable as the apparel brand hats.

...and I'm not a fan of the flat brim and tall hat. It's not functional to block the sun and looks goofy.

Starter? They still exist? Why not ask about "The Game" hats?

can someone far younger than me explain to me why people like snapback hats?

Growing up playing in crappy little league leagues, you got issued a POS snapback hat.  When you finally got old enough to where teams spent a few bucks on apparel, you finally got a fitted hat.  The fitted hat was better in every way.

Why would I want to go back to a snapbak hat?  They are a cheap means to allow retailers to carry less inventory, not provide a better hat.

I love both. Flat brim fitteds and snapbacks. (don't really wear baseball style caps anymore) The problem with fitteds is ventilation for me personally, so I rather not wear those. Not to mention the resizing factor is a bonus for when I have long or short hair.

Retro designs are found on more snapbacks than fitteds too adding to the interest.

Apparel threads PERIOD/EXCLAMATION POINT! No wonder the Dave Brandon-types exist and reach the level of power they attain. Branding and brand-devotion have gotten out-of-hand and play right into their slimy greedy money-grubbing hands.

Dominates hats! It's not even close. I'm a fitted hat guy myself. I just wish the New Era hats would be $10 bucks cheaper at least. Cut us some slack New Era!!!

If it's 1992 I'd have to roll with starter, if it's the reality we live in now I'd like to pretend this question was never asked and I'm not even replying now. One cost forty dollars and the other one cost nine. I'll choose new era.

They are high quality if you are wearing them strictly for casual purposes.

Do not sweat in a New Era hat. It will shrink the hat.

And the inside backing on the front will whittle away as it gets worn out and begin poking you in the head once the hat loses its shape.

But if you keep the hat in perfect condition and do not use it while doing anything athletic, then yes, New Era is a great hat.
