Start of Beat State week

Submitted by robb0226 on

I heard there was a game today, but I didn't hear about it until the first half was almost over. Apparently, the team must have had the same issue.

Anyway, this should probably start the Beat State Week.  Lose the game next week and we basically lose any chance of even sharing the B1G title.

Better make sure the team knows what time the game starts next Sunday. Go Blue, Beat State!

Not sure why you would want to deny yourself another fun and intense rivalry by trying to minimize it.  I'd say a game at home against our biggest and higher ranked basketball rival for the Big Ten Championship is probably worth a thread a week ahead of time.

As for the state game, I think we play better and get it done. I'm looking forward to many excuses and lots of crying from Izzo and State fans after the game.

Nebraska 31-25 over Staee at the half.  By the start of the 2nd, it might---and should---be 32-25.  A Nebraska 2-point FG is apparently going to be more thoroughly reviewed at halftime by the refs; it appears on TV to have a good chance of being changed to a 3.

Will need three of Nik, Caris, GRIII, Walton and Irvin to reliably get it in the bucket to be in the game against Sparty.  And, we must figure out a way to stop/slow down Sparty's post play.  We do not match up against them well at all.  Perhaps the same is true of them, but watching us get abused in the post over the last two weeks should make this THE point of emphasis this week.

Stauskas needs to spend the entire week cycling between shooting jumpers in the gym and getting pumped up by Bacari and McGary.  He MUST show up for us to have a shot.  The only way I like our chances against Sparty with Payne in the lineup is if Stauskas is on and Levert has another game like tonight.  This team is fairly likely to find their stroke again from mid range and deep though, which makes me a little more confident.  Two consecutive duds at home would be very uncharacteristic.

Why will next weekend be any different? I've gotten my hopes up three weeks in a row. 3 basketball losses and hockey is on another hard to watch stretch. But hey for the most part January was good

So regarding this rumor that the students are planning to chant "NO MEANS NO" at  Appling and Payne whenever they're at the foul line, in the words of Chris Rock: "I'm not saying you guys should do it...but I understand."

izzo saying applying might be shutdown.

tough season sparty. genuinely a little disapointed. with all the injuries, plus both teams slumping a little, the game wont be as big as it could have been.

however, beating the hell out of them in ann arbor would be awesome.
