Stanford & Washington

What are all the major rumors about with these two?

Is it true Michigan might be out, that MSU leads?

I doubt msu leads, but I wouldnt be surprised if we were out. They want to go to school together, and while I would love to have Stanford, Im not sure we have room for Washigton.

The latest I've read is that Pittman is talking up MSU to Washington (and they are becoming better friends), and he said he's going to start listening to them heavily now.  Stanford said that he does not see himself at MSU.  Washington has said that he has strong interest in UM as well (so don't freak out quite yet), and he and Stanford are going to try and visit in the next few weeks.  Most people seem to think, and Washington did give this impression, that he still really likes OSU and that they are not out of it pending sanctions.  They both reiterated that they would like to be a package deal, but many people are now saying that may be breaking down.  I don't know why, but I think it's because Stanford just doesn't have the stock that Washington has, and Washington has more options.

I'm guessing that he's pretty soft, but he's trying to get Washington and others to come with him so that it will make it bearable to end up at MSU over UM.

Feel bad for the kid, having to go to EL, so I understand that he's trying to bring some of his friends along to make it a little better

For both of them.

The talk about one DE only is overstated.  If Washington wanted to come, even with Wormley I guarantee you the coaches would seriously consider it.  Especially with choices at the QB and RB position slim, you really think Hoke would turn down a high 4* DE?  I don't think so.

Number of spots will matter, but those saying it is absolute that only one more DE comes in simply don't know what they are talking about.  It is in more flux than that.

Where are these rumors circulating? I haven't heard anything like this..in fact it seems like a thread on here yesterday stated that "we are in very good position for the Taft duo" though I can't remember which thread...nor can I verify that the person reporting was is a valid source.

Odenibgo and Pittman are straight up weakside rush ends or OLB's. Wormley is all 5 tech, or possibly even 3 tech. Mario and Brown took Pittman's and Odenibgo's spots. If anything, they may be holding a spot for Washington if he wants to come.

Stanford and Washington?

The rumor is that Stanford is the better bet to win the Pac-12 North in the short-term because Andrew Luck is returning as QB; however, with their unproven commodity at head coach and higher academic standards, it seems likely that in the long-range forcast, Washington and Steve Sarkesian will gain a higher ceiling and challenge the Oregon Ducks for not only the North division title, but also the conference crown as well.

Does that help? I don't think Michigan or MSU will really challenge either one of them, because the Wolverines and Spartans are in a different conference and are unlikely to play them except for the Rose Bowl.

Sounds like pittman has been doing a lot of recruiting for MSU with Washington, and they're building a strong relationship as a result.  Doesn't sound like many mods would be surprised if he ends up at MSU in the end.

I doubt Stanford would end up at MSU, if Washington does I expect him to end up at OSU or UM at this point.  He still really likes OSU and will have a lot of reasons to go there if the sanctions don't increase in severity.

They may still end up at the same school on signing day but both are headed in opposite directions to be a package deal

Pittman would have had a spot, if academics were in order, and that would not have changed Wormley's position..which is exactly my point.

I will be surprised if Washington and Pittman end up both at MSU.  That is just a hunch.

I'd rather have Stanford that Washington at this point anyway.

Although Washington is a very good DE, we have them in abundance at this point.  Stanford is an equally good WR, and we currently have zero between this class and last class.  If a different highly rated WR committed, that might change my thinking, but until then I really want Stanford.

Scout's Michigan front page has an article on Washington possibly having a new #1.  It talks about a "surprise" team maybe being his #1.  Out of his recent top 5,  the only team I can think of at this point is MSU.  IF this is true, it would be an excellent grab for MSU.  I would not mind grabbing Shittu and having a 3 man DT class consisting of O'Brien, Pipkins and Shittu (even though the coaches have stated they are only taking one more DT).  It is a longshot, and I know they play different DL positions, but if Washington does not commit to Michigan, would this persuade Shittu to take a stronger look at us?  I think there was talk about moving Godin to the tackle position, but if Washington does not come here, could they keep Godin at end if Shittu commits?  I am not to technical on going deeper into each DL position, so I apologize for not referring to each DT position, and each DE position (WDE and SDE).

I haven't seen the article or anything, and it seems to be that it could be Michigan by the other posters, but if it were truly a surprise team, I think Kentucky would fill that role. People know Washington and Pittman have become better friends, MSU just "won" a Big Ten Championship, has a lot of momentum, and KY really doesn't have as many positive vibes emanating as MSU does. Plus, if he wanted to got to SEC why not Bama or the other in his top 5?

The big thing for us is to get both of them on campus for a visit.  I think once we do that, we'll definitely be a preferred choice over Sparty (if we aren't already).  Hopefully, we can make room for Washington since he's such an excellent DE.  And I really think Stanford is an important player for us since we need a big WR so badly.

I don't remember which link it was but someone posted on here yesterday saying the same thing. It was immediately rebutted and said to be nothing more than a rumor.
