Stanford Not Coming This Weekend

Submitted by spacemanspiff231 on

Josh Hemholdt is reporting that Stanford isn't coming to Ann Arbor this weekend.  He says he may still make it in sometime this month.  Supposedly the reason has nothing to do with Washington, so don't bother speculating that.  He just couldn't make it in....  The link is behind a paywall, but for any Rivals subscribers, here it is.

Originally he and Washington were supposed to come, now neither. Oh well. hopefully they make it up later and are blown away. We still have a ton of recruits coming this weekend, time to focus on them

Rivals says it has nothing to do with Washington, but I'm not so sure.  If there are two kids who I think end up playing together it is these two.  Since we don't know either kids situation, I'm willing to side with them wanting to take the visit together which would help with expenses.  After the way Strobel got blasted for committing to us by Ohio fans I would keep things close to the vest too.

I got the vibe of a kid who genuinely doesn't know where he wants to go to school.  He's doing the "I'm going to take my time and decide closer to NSD" approach.  I know that doesn't fit with our current MOAR COMMITZ OM NOM NOM  approach this year, but I think we need to have patience.

EDIT: Also, welcome to this here weblog thingy.

Since we're saying how far away in time arbitrary things are.  Nobody's panicking.  The original post was pretty factual and devoid of opinion.  Just b/c you inferred that it was complaining about a recruiting topic doesn't mean it was.

Finishing business with Mr. J. DIamond , he just got his 5th scout star,  it's time to become a actual star & give your verbal this weekend to UM Sir Jordan !  Then help us bring in Mr. Peat.

Use a different term if you want, but I am looking forward to hearing how these visits went. The Jordan Diamond visit is about as important of a visit as we will get. I can't wait to get the details, and I hope they are all good.

Of course, if the post begins "Hello", I am sure that I could let a few details slide . . .

I didn't think Robin would come without Batman. Oh well...plenty of time for the dynamic duo to show up together. This is getting annoying though.

  1. I agree, no need to focus on kids that aren't here.  We need to spend our energy on the visitors we do have this weekend.  Mister Diamond and Mister Peat now is the time to make the decision you can celebrate for your entire lifes.

I am not quite as positive about Washington and Stanford commiting to Michigan anymore.  This is the second visit that both have called off, and Washington seemingly decided to visit Kentucky (whether or not it be for basketball) instead of Michigan.  This in correlation with Stanfod not saying much as to why he decided not to come does not give me as much hope of landing them as I did even a couple days ago.  I hope I am wrong.

to Michigan.  We'd be lucky to get them to visit.  That's what it is.  Both were pretty Ohio oriented until Tressel was unearthed.  Mattison has been after Washington very hard from the begining of his tenure - per multiple interviews from Stanford and Washington.

Even verbals are nothing to take for granted...but they need to see it to commit to it... (Gilmore is the only guy who has commited this year without visiting - AFAIK.)

I don't want to get down on Stanford and things could change especially after he visits AA but from those comments he made in the interview the other day I didn't get the best impression of him.

He seemed to have the attitude of "you would be lucky to have me at your school" rather than "I'm lucky to have an offer from your school with this great history and tradition."

I think a visit would blow him away but that's his loss if he doesn't want to come.

it's a big list regardless...with some who have seen the town and others that need the full treatment.  Hoping for some good news here...but even if it doesn't play out...it's good to know the coaches can devote time to kids that are there.

If Stanford and Washington are a package deal - the coaches can address that better when they are together.  Admittedly this is disappointing.

I'm available for tutoring 4* wide receiver prospects from the state of Michigan that have offers from both MSU and Michigan.

If we can't get Stanford or another elite WR in the 2012 class it shouldn't be the end of the world.  Clearly, 6'5-6'6" 4.4-4.5 receivers don't grow on trees, but our consolation prize would be the 2013 WRs that want to come play with Shane Morris.  In the meantime, we could throw Ron Thompson a bone and let him and Funchess figure out if we have a freshman WR or not.
