Stadium noise today

Wow. the. best (and loudest). game. ever. My voice hurts. We just beat 19th ranked ND, i asked a girl with big boobies to go with me to the eastern game. best. day. ever. But the crowd noise today was insane! And I remember a few months ago, a guy named jg2112 told me that crowd noise doesn't make much of a difference. Michigan just beat a more talented and more experienced Notre Dame team, partly and mostly because of great execution, but don't tell me the fans didn't have anything to do with it. also Michigan Arrogance once said "not sure why people need to be brainless noisemakers for the whole game." That my friend, is why. We are close to creating one of the most difficult places to play in the country. You should be proud. edit: also i saw a guy shakin around his watterbottle full of change. was that you socalblue?

This game was for sure in the top two or three games I've ever been to. The only other game that may beat it was Penn State two years ago when we won the game as time expired with a slant to Manningham. It's close after that, but then I'd say it's this game. Absolutely amazing game. Back and forth plays all day, and it went in our favor.

I was there as well. That game was more exciting for me because I was in the middle of all that mayhem. But this game is bigger for Michigan because of the big picture and it's [hopeful] impact on the entire Rich Rod program going forward.

the announcers seemed to be in awe of the crowd today. They just said they were incredible. Weis too. My cousin was there today, so I'll have to ask him what he thought of the noise. Sure seemed like a crazy environment to me.

I surely agree with you sir. besides the Wiscy game last year i think it was the loudest game I have been to. We really need to bring it on to the opposition and tell them what it is like to playing in the mother of all stadiums that is The Big House.

It was definitely louder. One big difference that I noticed was fan participation. I was in the alumni section and stood for most of the game. Only sat for the timeouts. The last time I was at a UM game sitting in the alumni section, the section was quiet and sat most of the game. It was way different this time. I did not hear one "sit down up front." The crowd was really into it. Also, spoke with Brandon Minor after the game. He is a pretty nice guy. Thanked us for supporting the team.

That was the best game I've ever seen in the big house. I just watched the highlights and it was so much louder in person. There were a few plays where they didn't get the snap off because of the noise and I remember at least twice where they had to burn a TO too. It was crazy loud in the north endzone.

It was definitely the most sustained load atmosphere that I can ever recall at UM. I was at the PSU game last year (at PSU) and I can tell you, Michigan Stadium was just as loud if not louder than it was at PSU. The crowd absolutely impacted the outcome. There were several time outs and delay of game penalties because of the noise. The piped in music was great. Truly one of the best experiences in my 20 years as a season ticket holder.

definitely LOUDER! It was more electric and the anticipation and energy all game long was just incredible. The stadium is so much louder than ever before. I believe we no have THE 12th man. The only drawback to all the extra sound is that the band is basically drowned out by the crowd. Even when the crowd is not all amped up, the band is hard to hear over the crowd. I sit in Sec. 44 (33 td line on the visitors side) and the band is on the opther side of the field and there are times you can't hear them play. I hate to admit it, but sometimes the piped-in music does help fire up the crowd, moreso than the band. In the end, the most exciting game ever. Hopefully it was not a pyrrhic victory. (Winning the battle, but suffering so many losses as to be unable to win the war)

I truly believe that was the most hostel environment ND will play in this year. I posted in another thread that at least half our time outs were used because of the crowd noise, not to mention the delay of game penalties. I have no doubt the missed FG (the shortest one attempted by Taush at that) was greatly impacted by the crowd. Clausen seemed like he only went 3-6 in the first ND drives, he was jittery throwing too hard, too high and too long. Obviously he calmed down as the game went on but I am sure the crowd noise played a factor.

I didn't mind the piped in music except when they cut off the band at one point. I like the music selection of 8 mile. I don't like that they pipe in music tht the band can play, and play well. Also, I don't like the white stripes because it reminds me of PSU. Otherwise, I am indifferent about the piped in music. I do think the music gets the fans more into the game. The crowd seems (or seemed today) more into the game.

Not only do I just think it's kind of lame, but it's Penn State's signature thing now, isn't it? And they stole it from Italy, or one of the other soccer teams that's been doing this for the past 5 years. I actually quite like some of the piped-in music, and I think it pumped up the crowd at moments when they were getting kind of listless, but I'd rather we not adopt the Seven Nation Army chant.

They stole it from us, since The White Stripes are from Detroit. Who cares though? The point is to pump up the crowd more than if there's not a song playing. Anything to get those in-between fans going. (you know the students will bring it and the crusty old alums won't, but the other 50% make a difference)

I love the White Stripes, but I don't think that particular song works that well in this kind of setting. And for some bizarre reason, PSU has already tried to make it their own, so it now seems like copying (which sucks, since they're from Detroit).

I just got back... after that last touchdown and on the following kickoff was the loudest I've ever heard the stadium in my years of going... Also, I have no voice. Good night.

I had an amazing time yesterday. Easily one of the best games I've been to in a long time. The fact that I got to sit with the recruits (my girlfriend's bro is a fullback at Detroit Catholic Central), made it even better! Two notes though. One: I guess it's SOP for recruits not to cheer? The whole little section I was sitting in was sitting down for the majority of the game. I would try to stand and get yelled at, so I had to scream from a sitting position like a lame ass. Two: Got to go on the field for warm ups. M's players are big, but Notre Dame's linemen? Holy Shit. They are gigantic. I think it was 74 (right tackle?) who really stood out. With beef like that, no wonder we couldn't get any pressure.
