Spring practice video
Video is up at Mgoblue.com. I missed me some football
You got me all excited for a practice video...but I don't think practice begins until tomorrow. You may wish to change your title to Hoke Spring Press Conference video or something similar to avoid any confusion of a potential practice video here.
EDIT: For whatever reason the first time I clicked the link it took me to the Hoke press conference. The second time I clicked it I got the practice video. Ignore my previous message...apologies.
4:26, bunches of Funchess.
Is that Coach Manning running in the shorts and t-shirt during the drill at 1:40?
Working with the LBs on pursuit to the football.
Never too early for football.
it's the first spring practice video not a press conference
Wow, that was weird. The first time I clicked the link it took me to Hoke's press conference. I just tried it and a practice video showed up! My apologies.
Was Darboh working with the defense?
EDIT: A bunch of players were still wearing the matte helmets. I wonder if those will become a thing.
think they were working on special team protection for the gunners
They use the helmets from the previous year if the players still have them. Last year they wore the legacy helmets (the one's with the gray facemasks) all through spring ball

. . . because they don't have enough helmets left.
(for those who STILL don't get it, yes I'm refering to selling memorobilia)
Nice grab by Funchess.
Gardner sure looked good in those few passes we get to see! Anybody know if Shane Morris is enrolled early, or is he still in high school. I can't remember but thought he ended up not enrolling early, but then just saw a tweet that he is at Bdubs with some of the early enrollees. Could easily just be visiting though.
Shane is still in high school right now
I'm hoping we see A LOT of that last play next season.
I hope this is but the first of many Devin-to-Devin connections that we see.
i think mattison is impressive- very hands on. Go Blue!
Devin lookin nice! 2 more years :)
Is this what herion tastes like?
Yeah, herion is what squares take when they're trying to fit in with the cool kids.
He's a matchup nightmare at TE.
Are you hoping Gronk and Hernandez move to WR as well? Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzalez?
I don't know why, but I really noticed Pipkins and how almost tiny he looked compared to his previous size. And also noticed the good speed he was showing on the pursuit drill. Also, Clark carries that 270+ well especially considering his height.
You're saying Ondre looks... PeeWee?
Mmmmmm, sweet sweet methadone.
Funchess is at least 6'7'' now
He grew 2 inches since this was posted? :

At this rate of growth, he might be eye-level with me in row 79 by September...
a mirage. September is still 5+ months away. Still great to see this. Thanks for the feed.
Are the recruits that are in town able to watch this? Not sure if there are rules about it.
Yes, I think quite a few recruits were there.
Just gotta get quality play from OF interior line and a solid pass rush on D, we could finally be talking about being a legitimate top 15 team this year. Way too early for that kind of talk, but a lot of positives happening with us.
Both DG and Bellomy ran at least one play out of the pistol in the video. Must be the stuff Borges is bringing in from the 49ers and Redskins.
Just noticed that too. Thank god. The pistol allows Borges to run the power he likes but also allows for some versatility in adding zone plays in without tiping with formations. Count me happy about that.
If we really were running out of the pistol then i'm even more excited to get Derrick Green on the field. Seeing how that's the same offense that his high school used to get him the ball.
I'm excited about it because it means Borges actually is backing up all that talk about looking at the SF offense and keeping the offense more modern. Next step is getting rid of the predictability and tipping with substitution patterns.
We have the perfect personell, we want to be a downhill running team, and Borges is a "West Coast" guy and the Pistol came from Nevada and obviously the 9ers and Seahawks run it. As for the actual "West Coast Offense" it has a ton of principle's from Walsh's West Coast Offense.
We could be VERY dangerous next year running the Pistol with our base defense.
I like the Pistol MUCH better than the spread because it still includes a power game. Guys like Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch are no Kenyon Barner or LaMichael James in terms of size and they excel in those offenses. Fitz, Smith, Green and even Rawls should be able to get downhill and find some big holes. Then Garnder plays very similar to Kapernick....a long stridder who isn't going to kill you with his legs unless he's got you off balance with the pass and/or RB run game.
Dennis Norfleet-at-RB sighting. Right now, Brian is at home drooling ala Homer when thinking about donuts.
in the middle of March.
Instant woody.
The amount of detail this staff puts into coaching is phenomenal. Almost every coach is pointing out small things after a drill.
Amen...If we lose a game, it won't be for lack of the fundamentals.
What's noticeable by its absence is screaming rage coming from the coaching staff.
Was that as good for you as it was for me? Awesome to see the team out there, getting ready for 134.
