Vatican, meet Jim Harbaugh's cleats.
Cleats, Vatican.
January 20th, 2017 at 3:22 PM ^
I bet the Pope and Harbaugh would be awesome friends.

Maybe Harbaugh and the Pope will go shoe shopping and get some really nice Gucci cleats made of leather that feels like butter.

So does this sidestep the rule becuase the location is in a different country or is this just occuring before the new rule becomes official?
January 20th, 2017 at 2:04 PM ^
What if they are doing this under the idea that this is a minature study abroad trip supported by the athletic department? It could then be called an educational trip, possibilly exploiting some kind of loophole.

People were saying it would drive the SEC/NCAA nuts and they'd look hypocritical for opposing it. Maybe it's a combo trip where they partner with some Italian University for a week and practice while they're there

To practice what-- corner kicks, throw-ins and the intricacies of a 4-2-3-1?
January 20th, 2017 at 2:21 PM ^
No way they're using a 4-2-3-1, has to be 3-5-2, no?
January 20th, 2017 at 3:29 PM ^
I prefer 3-4-3. Mike D'Antorini prefers the 3-9 (he still gets the number of players wrong).

My cousin's kid played in the Italian Football League for four years. He really, really enjoyed the perks, i.e., Italian women.

To be the best at football, one must know all futbols

because there is a study aborad progam that we partner with?
January 20th, 2017 at 2:12 PM ^
So another spring trip is fine
January 20th, 2017 at 2:48 PM ^
The new rule is for 2018. Won't affect this trip.
January 20th, 2017 at 3:31 PM ^
They could compete similar to how the basketball team has "competitions", the rule specifically stated no travel for practice, as long as there is a competition I think it slips through.
January 20th, 2017 at 7:13 PM ^
Basketball gets to travel to Europe once every 4 years. I wonder if that's going to be the future for traveling football practices.

I was thinking the same thing and was going to post that, but figured to read the comments first to see if anyone else asked first.

Jim can take the team to anywhere in the world during vacation but they cannot practice.
January 20th, 2017 at 3:47 PM ^
Could they have a "friendly?"
January 20th, 2017 at 2:02 PM ^
Rome, Georgia?
January 20th, 2017 at 2:33 PM ^
Or Rome, New York?
January 20th, 2017 at 3:52 PM ^
Or Jim Rome?
January 20th, 2017 at 4:40 PM ^
It's about an hour east of Moscow on 52.

In addition, I very much doubt we let oppotunistic folks scurry off with the remains of the damaged wall to build palaces and so forth as they did in Rome. You are right, we would certainly would not have managed the restoration quite so haphazardly, if you will.
January 20th, 2017 at 2:38 PM ^
who thought it would be a good idea to put a giant yellow noodle in front of the Colliseum. Not sure if true.
