Spring Game: Maize or Blue?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The annual most important question of today.

Maize or Blue?

The athletic department is not releasing the full rosters online per the SID (I emailed and asked about it).

Here is the list of players that we know are on what team per their social media posts/WTKA.

Blue - Head Coach Jedd Fisch

  • Shane Morris
  • John O'Korn
  • Devin Bush
  • Taco Charlton
  • Maurice Hurst
  • Jon Runyan, Jr.
  • Bryan Mone
  • Chris Wormley
  • Matt Godin
  • Ben Braden
  • Erik Magnuson
  • Kyle Kalis
  • Grant Newsome

Maize - Head Coach Don Brown

  • Ahmir Mitchell
  • Wilton Speight
  • Channing Stribling
  • Mike McCray
  • Grant Perry
  • Brandon Peters
  • Jourdan Lewis
  • Ty Isaac
  • Mason Cole
  • Khalid Hill
  • Sean McKeon
  • Jake Butt
  • Lawrence Marshall

Maize is stacked and if they have Peppers, that may be too much. However, Blue has 4 of 5 starting OL.

I say Blue wins 21-20. Maize misses the 2pt conversion to win the game on the final drive.

Not to mention the talent on the DL: Hurst, Wormley, Mone, Charton, and Godin.  That is an insanely strong group that only has to get past one starting OL (Cole)...we are not deep at OL this year.

Based on these lists, I'll take Blue, who looks stronger in the trenches.

I'm not sure I ever heard the final answer on this:  Who actually picked the rosters and what was the criteria used to make the choices?

Did they just pick round-robbin?  These rosters look a little bit too "seeded" for that.

It's hard to believe that Don Brown went 20 picks deep without picking more than one starting OL.  I don't care what side of the ball he is used to coaching.

There are too many guys unaccounted for to make a prediction:

-Jabrill Peppers

-DeVeon Smith

-Amara Darboh

-Drake Harris

-Ian Bunting

-Ty Wheatley, Jr.

That is too much talent to make a determination without knowing how it is allocated.

EDIT: Just noticed that Blue has no RBs on that list. Having Kareem Walker vs. DeVeon Smith is a big deal.

If I had a choice, I'd like the see the Spring Game be the #1 Offense / #2 Defense against the          #1 Defense / #2 Offense.

1s vs. 1s and 2s vs. 2s.

Blue probably wins. They basically have the starting OL/DL on that team, and with the DL being so strong on this team I think Wilton is going to panic a bit.

I'm calling for an upset. Blue with O'Korn making the difference on offense and the d-line getting after Speight too much. Mone, Wormley, Taco and Hurst? C'mon meow.

This was all designed to fuck with us on April Fools Day.

Make it look like Speight is the designated #1 QB . . . and then have him get torn up by the starting DL facing the second string OL.  Epic paranoid fanbase troll.

Hey, even Harbaugh gets bored.

Has anyone seen the rules for the spring game?  ie how close it will be to an actual game versus a series of scrimmage plays?

Without further details I think Blue will win. They have 4 of the 5 starting offensive lineman. They should move the ball quite well.

Maize should wear all maize, blue should wear all blue uniforms...auction them off and all proceeds go to #ChadTough and don't TOUCH the uniforms during the regular season or postseason.

I don't understand why anyone would want to spend valuable moments of their lives watching non-competitive football. It's difficult enough to set aside time to watch one competitive game a week when Michigan plays in the fall. I know I'm in the minority, but why sit out there for a scrimmage?

Tea leaves are everything. Is it just me or has anyone else soured on football a little? 10 years ago I used to watch a handful of games a weekend. Now my only interest is watching Michigan, and sometimes I don't even make it through the whole game unless it's close.
