Spring Game Football Tickets Topic

Submitted by Happyshooter on

I signed up for the free tickets, and pulled 4 in section 18 halfway up.

What is the deal? That many folks coming or do you have to be a big shooter donator to pull the sideline sections?

Why are we doing tickets? Does Mary Sue want to start charging?

Maybe they just want to know exactly how many people show up? I wouldn't be surprised if they did charge in the future. $5 would be fair. How awesome would it be if they were to do a 50/50 raffle? The winner would get some serious cash

I got some in section 25 row A and I got some in section 44 row 31, I think it's a way to get people committed to coming and to continue making a big deal out of it. I think you will see a large amount of people their especially with the new regime at the helm. Does anyone know if they will be doing autographs or anything before or after.

Second question, what about tailgating for the Spring Game? This will be my first one, is that something that people generally will do?

We used to tailgate. There is a park and a church four blocks down Pauline. Some folks hit the lots by the support buldings to tailgate, as well, but you have to get there very early.

My problem is that I somehow have confused tailgating with being in college again and get carried away. We are going to hit a breakfast place instead and pay full attention to Hoke's changes.

Then I am going to drink my way from Ricks to Skeepers the long way.

Just read on mgoblue.com that all print-at-home tickets have been claimed. And for those fans that show up on game day who didn't reserve can sit in end zone sections 7-17 and 33-39.

P.s not only did we reserve seats but we were also entered in a drawing for some really great prizes.

as pointed out elsewhere, the tickets don't strictly reserve your seat; you can sit somewhere in your section, but if other people get there earlier and sit in "your" seats, you have to deal with it.

I strongly dislike this essentially meaningless ticket idea, and I hope they don't bring it back next year. The spring game should be open and casual.

There are actual seat numbers printed on the tickets and that is where we will be seated and nowhere does it say that you are only going to be allowed to sit in the section where your tickets are first come first serve. Posts like this are not needed and just cause confusion. Also if anyone actually needs or wants tickets in that area I'm sure plenty of people will be just giving away extras. I know if I have some that's what I will be doing.

Michigan is going to work that hard to police reserved seating, cool. I just don't see them putting in that much work for a half-full stadium.

Please tell me you're not actually going to make a point to kick somebody out of "your" seats instead of sitting back a couple rows or over a few seats. Does it really matter that much?

Please tell me that you will not be trying to sit in seats that are already spoken for just to prove a point or whatever your motivation might be. Does it really matter that much? Like I said before you will have plenty of opportunity to sit in the best seating areas because people will just be giving out their extras. If someone wants to sit in my seats and won't move. That's pretty rude, and that would be on them not me. It's called courtesy.

The problem you will encounter is that the game is free, no tickets necessary. And many people who show up will not have heard about the 'tickets', and are going to be concerned when you show up with a 'ticket' for the seats they have been sitting in long before you got there.

I also doubt that the stadium will put much time or personnal into enforcing the 'tickets'. It was essentially an entry into the drawing / marketing gimick.

If I remember, the previous poster was correct - the webage said the ticket admits you to a section. The 'seat' printed on the ticket is a generic place holder. Probably required by the ticket computer.

I haven't seen that on any site. I shouldn't even be wasting my time posting this but according to the Michigan football Facebook page.. Thomas Heiden: are we sitting in our saved seats or will there be issue? Michigan Football: We'll have plenty of staff on hand to help you find seats and use your tickets. So I'm assuming that my seats will be there when I get there. Or that someone will move if I ask nicely. If not I will take my children and most likely just move to another spot. No big deal to me. But still stealing seats is not what I expect from my fellow Michigan fans..

I had no idea there was some sort of reserved tickets you had to sign up for. Last year I jumped around from section to section to watch what was interesting to me. Also, last year there was plenty of open seating in every area, so I'm not sure what prompted this change to having to have assigned seats.

More than likely people signed up immeadiattly not knowing if they could make it or not. It stinks for those who are actually going to go to watch from afar when empty seats are available. It also will end up with scalpers selling good seats. This is definately putting a damper on w usually great relaxed football game.

I'm in Section 1, Row 18, but only got that location when I reduced my ticket request down to a single ticket. And I reserved that ticket within 5 minutes of getting the email.

Bottom line, I'm going alone but will have a good seat!

This is going to be a clusterfuck. When it's 45 and rains, inside the 30s is going to be half empty between people not showing, and people with ten tickets using 2, and the endzones are going to be packed with people, who probably won't be in the mood to donate to Mott's. It's just a cosmically stupid idea.

I wrote the AD an e-mail saying exactly this. Last year was cold, and there was a lot of seating. I'm guessing people signed up right away for the maximum number of tickets even if they had no idea if they could go, so they could get a whole area to themsleves, and also increase their chances of winning. Oh well, I guess when I'm obsessed as I am, they are going to get me there no matter what. (excpet my wife and I do donate to Motts, but your point is still well taken).

I'm guessing you are exactly right. I attempted to get seats a couple of hours after the "grab" started and all of the better seating was gone. I suspect, as you said, that many people picked up the maximum number of tickets. So, I said screw it and just won't bother. It was nice being able to move around.

This is one time that things should have been left well enough alone.

I read that you will present your ticket when you arrive at your section. I would assume that there will be people checking tickets at the enterance to your section. So unless your ticket says sec. 1 you will not be permitted to head down to a seat in sec. 1.

The ticket idea is terrible. I can bet it is going to be alot of confusion. I know alot of people who are planning on going who will have no idea that they need a ticket. It should be a first come first serve seating option. First ticket prices go up and now this. I am getting a little irritated

I go every year anyway. Find a sit and enjoy the day. Wow. Why does something this innocent & simple cause so much worry? Bigger issues out there.
