Spring Game 2013

Submitted by goblue85 on

Saturday April 13th at Big House Michigan will hold its annual spring game open to the public.

What are looking forward to game?

Gardner will prolly have the orange jersey on but hopefully plays a few drives but wouldn't risk that much.  I love the potential he has and his throws are moneyballs.

Looking forward to see the Oline with lewan schofield helping the young kids like Braden, Miller, Bryant, Kalis, Bosch, etc.

Also looking to see the wide receivers other than Gallon and Dileo,  Chesson and Darbah?

Running backs like to watch Northfleet and Hayes, also wanna see Drake Johnson but know in the fall it will be Derrick Green and Fitz lamo.

Also looking forward to watch the defense under Mattison and Hoke.   The dline has a lot of depth with Clark, Black, Quintin, Pee Wee, Mario, and Heiztman,  Looking forward to younger guys like Wormley, Strobel, and Willie Henry.

Linebackers- Looking forward to seeing James Ross, Bolden, Morgan, and Cam.  Also see how Beyer is adjusting back to his old position.   Also see if Jenkins-Stone, Ringer, and Poole have some potential.

Secondary-  This is the area where I see alot of talent and could be very good soon.  Looking to see Countless, Ray Taylor, Avery, Richardson, and then the safeties with Gordon, Wilson, Robinson, and Dymonte Thomas.

Kicking and Punting- I'm confident with Gibbons and Wile.

True Freshman,-  Really looking forward to see Bosch, Taco, Butt, and Douglass and Thomas and see who stands out?

I see the conditions for saturday are mid 40s and cloudy.  I am willing to bet will see Hoke with shorts and maybe long selves?

Can't wait for Saturday to head up and see the guys.

Angelique told me it's not going to be a game format. Same ol' shit with the controlled scrimmage. I hope Maize can finally break through and get a win. The series is 28-26 Blue.

Best part is, Michigan will win.

No injuries please.

We could be close a commitment from a 3-star LB from East St. Louis, Kyron Watson. Not impressed with this kid at all. After the LBs we wanted went to Ohio it looks like we will take anybody.

Though he is a 3-star to both Rivals ans Scout, he's only a few spots away from being a four star on both sites' position rankings.  Rivals has 16 4-star ILBs, and he's #19.  Scout has 27 4-star OLBs, and he's #33. So he's close to a four star.

His offer list isn't littered with elite teams, but It's not exactly us and the MAC.  He has 9 BCS offers, mostly from the Big Ten and Big 12, plus Missouri and Syracuse.  Although we;re certainly his best offer, we just offered today so it's possible his recruiting is just starting to take off.

Brady Hoke will be in short sleeves.  We should all honor him every game by having *every* fan in Michigan Stadium 'Go All Brady' - short sleeves regardless of the weather.

Thoughts?

I live in DC and the freaking Maryland spring game is televised here.  Which is even more irrelevant that a real team's spring game.  Is this going to be on BTN or FS-D or anything?

I believe I saw it posted previously that it would be live on the BTN2GO app or online.  It will be tape delayed on BTN sometime later in the day/evening.

{EDIT: obviously I had not refreshed in awhile.  )

Because Michigan players don't wear red. Yes, Hoke is the man. I want to see the backup QB candidates. I'm still hoping that we can redshirt Shane if possible. I will also be driving 5 hours to see a free game and pick my own seat in the Big House. The tickets I buy every year aren't really close to the field....

...this is one of the least anticipated spring games for me in awhile.

I would've rather gotten a comprehensive overview of winter/spring progression.

I say that because it's not going to be a real game and there's not much that will be new. More importantly, as I said in another thread. I feel like 90% of the roster is pretty entrinched or they're Matt Vogrich waiting for RS Freshman to take over in the fall and true freshman to arrive.

This is a year where I'd much rather see a fall exhibition than a spring.

Just to expand on above...

I'd rather see Gardner after a full summer of workouts, 7v7, fall camp, etc. THAT to me is when he improves the most.

Also, we'd have Shane Morris on the team, I'd love to see what he potentially could bring to the table.

RB is obvious, you get Fitz, Smith and of course Green in the fold.

WR is similar to QB. Other than Gallon and Dileo, I feel like we're just a summer away from Darboh and Chesson really bursting onto the scene. Right now we're okay with our "Vogrich" guys, but when these RS Freshman get a full summer to work with Devin, THAT is when I want to see them.

OL will have shaken out by then.

DL will be a little more settled.

Countess will be participating (no way he plays many if any snaps in a spring game).

...so I think this year more than probably any since Rich Rod's 2nd year, the fall VASTLY outshines the spring.
