SportsbyBrooks uncovers other Ohio State players items being sold online

Submitted by mmiicchhiiggaann on

I just saw this posted on my twitter and thought it was pretty interesting. Other players may have been selling helmets and parts of their jerseys. I've got a feeling when the NCAA decides to start doing their own research there may be some funny business going on down south.

I can look at those hideous "O-H I-O" shirts without wincing.  As a matter of fact, I pity anyone I see wearing scarlet and gray, because they bought into a lie, and now they must face the consequences.  I feel like a departed spirit in one of those "Left Behind" books watching the condemned suffering through the Apocalypse.  Ha ha ha!

I've told you about my ex who goes to OSU I think. She actually had the nerve to write on my Facebook about Pitt losing yesterday. I was really taken aback at first (why the fuck would an OSU student pick yesterday, of all days, to make fun of another school?), and then delved into her coaches moral values with no mercy.

If you read a few of the comments you'll see that OSU auctions off items like this for charity at times. The violations they've committed are egregious enough, let's not be the fanbase that just makes stuff up.

One would have to be quite gullible to believe that every item sold by TSIO player went to charity.  Unless, of course, you believe the old adage that "charity begins at home:" then it all makes perfect sense.

Hopefully, so much is made of this that the NCAA is forced to actually do their job in Columbus.  If they are, and the present cracks in the Scarlet Wall of Silence aren't "repaired" by then, I am going to have to agree with Bacon.

I hope we see recruits asking out of their LOI's.  At any rate, it should affect at least the next class, thus affecting the team four years down the road.  If we are really lucky, the suspended players will be suspended for the entire year, and we will see the rare perfecta of both present and future teams being affected.

It would be really rare for the current team to be affected, because usually the players and coaches who commit violations are gone before penalties are handed down and later teams pay for their transgressions.

The only way TSIO is going to profit from this mess is if they talk Urban Meyer out of "retirement."  I hope it doesn't happen.

I dont doubt that there is more going on down there than reported but these items were being sold for a charity auction it appears.  Probably not a big deal but it would be great if it ends up being true.

There's a lot of stuff on that website from a bunch of different teams.  It'd be fun if Ohio State were this front organization for massive illegal sales of merchandise but I sort of doubt it.  At least, not based on those sales.

John U Bacon was on WTKA this morning. He basically said that if the NCAA decides to really make this a full scale investigation of the Tressel era, it is pretty well known there is a lot to be found.
