Sparty Schadenfreude Alert: MSU loses 81-73 at home to Northeastern

Submitted by Bambi on

They were down most of the game. Double digits until a garbage time 3 made it 8. MSU shot 61.5% from the line.

They now drop to 7-5 on the year with their next game being at home vs 9-1 Oakland Wednesday.

really. That is what is so weird about this State team. It looks and acts nothing like a State team. FWIW, Langford and Winston look about as college ready as Watson and Simpson so perhaps our "misses" were not that horrible after all.

would potentially be an excellent fit for us, and he looks light years ahead of X at this point, tempo-free, adjusting for minutes.

Winston has the highest assist rate in the country.  That is, he assists more baskets when he is on the floor than anyone else in the country!  That is not a counting stat, and it is pretty impressive. We could use a creator/distributor like that.  His shooting stats are solid too.  Only thing that's not great about his offensive game thus far is TOs which is understandable for a freshman PG and still lower than X's astronomical rate.

Wiston is playing less than 20 min a game, Simpson is playing 10 so it's not like there's a huge difference in role and one could make the argument that X's minutes have come against much easier competition (worse teams and backups more often than starters).  They're both backup PGs and both backup mediocre starters and have opportunity to take minutes if they earn it.  Winston is just demanding more playing time, whereas X is not.

Yes, according to them. Those fans are such clueless idiots. Look, they had a nice run in football, but it's over. MSU was supposed to be good this season in basketball, but they're nothing special. I love this. Few things in life are funnier than miserable MSU fans.

Even if someone else crushes them, boy do I enjoy the lamentation of the womenfolk. Lament, you women.

I don't think this is indicative of what their season will be.

However I felt the same after they struggled in football with Furman and....
