I'm from Owosso as well.  Quite a gang here.  Nothing better than a Sir Pizza cube pepperoni. That is about the only thing I miss from Owosso.  It battles my brain daily along with a Count of Antipasto slice.  Sad day when that went away.  Great pizza but so, so, so inefficient.

Holy cow what a place we have here. Roma's pizza behind the "Capital Theater". Geezo. About 1/3 of the population has left Owosso, I think. I am from the Brad VanPelt era, his bro was my best friend, used to sleep over there a lot.

Well now that you got the last name right! I did know a couple of Roberts, but it's a pretty common name.

For anyone actually from Owosso, or anyone who can identify with small town gossip and trivia, there is a Facebook page named "YOU KNOW YOU'RE FROM OWOSSO IF... ". It is very amusing to read many of the same experiences people had and reminisce about some landmark businesses that are no longer.

One of the funniest things about going to school in Owosso was all the boys going to swimming classes in Junior High and High School COMPLETELY NAKED. I, for one, didn't think anything of it because you just did what you were told to do. Apparently this was anything but common, in fact people have tried unsuccessfully to find ANY other school system where this was done. You had to strip down cue-ball naked, go thru the cold showers that spit out sharp pellets of ice, then go to the pool area and line up, everyone just shivering. It was cold. There wasn't too much shrinkage because packages were already quite small in their natural state.

Guess we were just lucky that Jerry Sandusky wasn't our gym coach.

I'd be so peeved at the Detroit News for that.  Obviously you get your ad ready to go before the outcome.  You trust the paper isn't going to make you look like an idiot by running it when it shouldn't.

I can't laugh too hard at MSU because it could just as easily be us on the bad end of such a gaffe.

It can be deduced beyond a reasonable doubt that the travel agency that makes money off of MSU travel packages has at least a few MSU fans making decisions for them, like the decision to run this ad.  They had to get their ad ready ahead of time, and they did.  They ASSumed that their great and beloved Spartans were going to the Rose Bowl.

In other words, they did what Sparty always does: they severely overestimated their place on the food chain.  This ad is merely another case of Sparty getting exactly what they deserve.

Dewey beat Truman too, right?  (That was a Chicago paper, but I forgot which one.)

Edit: must have been in the first post... the picture doesn't display for me, for some reason.
