Who Benedict Arnold is, so props to them.
spoiler alert: i linked this
Who Benedict Arnold is, so props to them.
Funny, I was actually about to post the exact same thing.
...except of course they would spell it wrong.
Oh, you mean it's really Benidict Arnald? #MSUBound /s
They simply are repeating a term they have heard.
The next step for them will be spelling it correctly.
That is a ridiculous expectation to hold them to.
level. When they go for their PhD in Hooked on Phonics. . .
He's the guy that makes the eggs, right?
They watch the Brady Bunch.
I thought we were the "Brady Bunch!"
such a horrible breakfast, the young american nation labeled him a traitor!
i do not believe drake harris cooks.
You bite your tongue. Eggs Benedict is delicious.
Drake Harris is like Benedict Cumberbatch to me
Damion Terry is like Benedict Cumberbatch to me. I don't know who either of them are.
Damion Terry is like Mark Dantonio's Hubert Cumberdale.
....the evil Prince Humperdinck to our Princess Buttercup.
Or the Englebert Humperdinck to people who don't like majestic male vocalists.
Greg Mattison is like Hubert Farnsworth with these incoming recruits
He's assembled a team of Atomic Supermen?
Haters gonna hate
I kind of feel sorry for them.
...right up to the moment they start talking shit.
If you do, you are either too young and have not endured enough of their BS over the years or have never ventured out of the Big House to watch a game in EL. Give that a try once or twice and that will remove any compassion you might have.
Interesting that Terry is a 2013 recruit so he hasn't even stepped foot on campus. But I'm sure a lot of this goes on. These kids talk smack all the time at camps and on the field, but on Twitter it becomes public. Nothing new, just a new medium.
3 out of every 4?! You're crazy, I'm callin 9 out of 10!
I kinda like the "arrogance" of our recruits. We gotta get the swagger back in Ann Arbor!
almost every recruit before entering school talks about winning national championships and Rose Bowls. Only Sparty recruits take offense when Michigan ones talk about it.
All of the MSU recruits were born after MSU last appeared in the Rose Bowl in 1988. This says a lot when Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois recruits can say otherwise.
This twitter war has all the epicness of the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan (or, you know, the real storming the beaches at Normandy). I can't wait to see what Senor Spielbergo pulls out of his hat when it comes time to make the movie version of this, it's going to be amazing! What he did for 'All Burns for All Seasons" was spectacular.
Honestly, I don't really care about this, if it didn't come across in my post. This is a non-story (I guess you could say, of epic-proportions).
I didn't get a UM offer...well, that sucks.
Is it guaranteed that the 2014 kids we've got committed will be eligible? Don't they still have to "pass" the SAT or ACT and get reasonable grades as seniors?
But coaches do their homework by talking to coaches and school counselors and looking at GPAs. Michigan hasn't had a player not qualify in the Hoke era yet. This of course was not the case during the Rich Rod era.
These kids are pretty much seniors now anyway. Most will have already started taking their standardized tests or will this summer.
Oh, what a cheap shot at Rich Rodriguez. How was he supposed to know the admissions department would be so remarkably unfair and unconcerned with the Team? Revisionist history right there.
But the coaching staff most likely already has a pretty good idea of how good of a student they are recruiting
I have to think between the "conditional offers" and the chatting between coaching staffs (ours and the high school's), they have a good idea that a kid is going to make it.
Reminds me of a riddle I just made up. What do Michigan and MSU recruits have in common? They both talk about Michigan. It's nice to see the acolyte Little Brotherites so quickly indoctrinated into Little Brotherism.
Yeah, I have a feeling Jabrill Peppers isn't up at night worrying about what Damion Terry is saying on Twitter.
...who Damion Terry even is...but he sure knows who Peppers is!
What do Michigan and MSU recruits have in common? They both got offered by MSU.
Also, MSU was their backup school.
Word, Basil Fawlty. Word.
Or a corollary on the academic side, what do all UM and MSU students have in common? They all applied to UM.
Let them hate on our guys all they want, it's only going to add fuel to a fire that Hoke likes to keep burning 365 days a year.
Michigan State has recruits?
College Football probably DOES seem incredibly hard for a school who's ceiling is mediocrity.
I vote for a rap battle Peppers vs Dat Bull....Could be on the level of Biggie and Tupac
Or at the very least, Biggie and Bubba Sparxxx.
Who remembers the Bubba Sparxx song in Madden 2004? The best.
zomg! Highschoolers are trash talking!
Sparty gonna Sparty !
Good to know there's a fresh crop of little brothers. The moniker will never die because they won't let it. They just can't keep Michigan's name outta their mouths for more than a few days at a time.
In case they can't tell, college football will be easy to Jabrill Peppers. Let them whine and hate and curse just like their clownish fans. The ride back down to mediocrity can't be a fun one, I don't even really blame them
So an MSU recruit is guaranteeing that Michigan will have some decomitts? That's just sad. I feel for people with an inferiority complex that strong.
It's pretty common to have at least one decommitment, so he's not exactly going out on a limb there.
You're smarter than that and I know you understand the intent of the original statement and ghostofyost's response. C'mon man.
You're giving him far too much credit. Overreacting to comments made in jest is what he does.
Yeah, this is a huge overreaction:
"It's pretty common to have at least one decommitment, so he's not exactly going out on a limb there."
I really need to keep my emotions in check.
Fool me once...
Dude ... "Puffins Gonna Puff" ... LOL funny ... coffee-on-the-monitor funny. Nice! :-)
The accuracy of the statement really isn't the relevant part. When you feel compelled to publicly promise that your rival's recruiting class will be weakened by decommits, it's a pretty clear sign that you're intimidated/concerned.
Sounds like the Michigan has found its way into Mr. Terry's head. Just think how miserable he will be when he sees Harris snagging balls for the Wolverines and then has to face their defense. That should help illustrate (and we know the Spartans do best with pictures) what the Michigan recruits are now talking about.
on the field. If I am Dantonio or anyone with brains at MSU, I do not welcome this garbage, or think it reflects well on my institution.
Pff. Let them.
It'll all be settled on the field.
North Korea. They need to make a lot of noise or else people forget they exist.
Except North Korea could actually be dangerous.
Can be dangerous too. Just ask other msu students.
Sparties can be dangerous too
That's especially true if you're a couch.
...North Korea is more likeable
...North Korea has a better fooball team
...North Korea's leader is less angry than Dantonio
Someone needs to photoshop a sparty logo on to this puppet
How many games has Damion Terry played at MSU? Has he even started practice their? He must speak from expirence, right? I cant believe this would make Groucho Mark happy. This looks bad for their program. A now enrolled athlete voicing his opinion on commitment to michigan, sounds like a lil bro move to me.
That's what you'd think, but Dantonio actually makes them run less for stuff like this.
@dhicky695: hah they first have to go through senior year, then graduate, and I can guarantee some decommits coming from Michigan
Says the kid who hasn't set foot on campus for college yet. What ever makes you sleep better at night.
future coaches. They want their players to hate Michigan because emotion might be the only advantage they have.
Perhaps it is just the DNA of Michigan State commits.
Mathlete can confirm, but I'm guessing there's a significant t-stat to the fact that not a single current MSU player or MSU commit is the eldest child in his family.
We shouldn't care much what 18 year olds say on the internet
If you grow up in Michigan, how does one become a Michigan State fan? This still baffles me to this day.
That's actually an interesting question.
We sit here from the vantage point of deep Michigan fandom, so our view is a bit biased ... but there's a good portion of the state that splits to Michigan State.
Many aren't rabid fans, just fans that identify with MSU rather than U-M. Most probably pull for either team when the opponent is someone other than an in-state school.
I used to think it was mostly geographical. But I'm not so sure it's a clean line that separates the two. I know more than a few smart and decent MSU fans, so let's stay away from the explanation of it being based on intelligence.
My guess is it's more a question of environment during those formative years where kids start to take an interest in such things. If parents or family lean one way, chances are the kid will go that way as well. Not always, but usually.
"We regret to inform you that, due to limited class size, we are unable to enroll you at the University of Michigan at this time" (I assume it says something like that, I never saw that letter)
He then starts classes at the repitubale academic institution of MSU the next fall, at which point he begins 5 years of indoctrination of the inferiority complex, and starts saying things like "We're going to DOMINATE scUM this year".
After the couches are burnt and venerial diseases transferred, he often goes on to become a "productive" member of society, eventually reaching the heights of middle management and becoming a family man. His children will then be indoctrinated with the same inferiority complex, and while some will buck the trend in the face of verbal abuse from their father, many will want to grow up to be just like their old man.
It's funny how one letter can make such a difference.
This post has so much arrogance it sickens me. I am one of the biggest Michigan fans you could ever meet, and I attended Eastern Michigan on an athletic scholarship. Just because I was not smart enough or talented enough to attend The Unversity of Michigan doesn't make you anymore of a Michigan fan than me, and sure as hell doesn't make me a Spartan fan either.
..about playing the "didn't get into Michigan" card on Sparty. Fair point. Damn you.
You would think that a person who attended Michigan could at least spell reputable correctly.
And "venereal" is another spelling on which he whiffed.
I was just kidding, sorry if I struck a chord.
I grew up in Michigan, most of my friends were Michigan fans growing up, everyone and their families were huge Michigan football fans. But, then these same friends, who had been Michigan fans their entire life apply to colleges. They apply to Michigan and a couple safety schools like MSU. Well, my friends got denied from Michigan and had to go to MSU. The second they get that denied letter they hated Michigan and totally embraced the little brother lifestyle.
So, mostly, I think MSU fans are Michigan rejects. Envious, dumb, uninspiring rejects...
Aren't they cute?
This coming from the same school that was talking so much shit on Twitter about Denard during the Alabama game? Spare me.
Its a two-way street here, Sparty. I'm sure some of our commits have probably said some foolish things on Twitter, but don't go acting all high and mighty when you're just as guilty as they are. And even if you're not, save your emotions for the field. It might be the only advantage you have when you play Michigan from here on out.
What Game of Thrones character would Sparty be?
Jon Snow...never feels apart of the family...took forever to bang a girl...and a bastard. Has some good times and may feel superior to others "on the wall" but he is still second class to the rest of the Starks
Like the inbred king, they are cunts with an inferiority complex.
And they shoot prostitutes with crossbows. Allegedly.
Except being Joffrey means they actually have some kind of power or influence. Which they don't. They're a Karstark acting up, desperately trying to get out from under the Stark's shadow. Only to be beheaded.
Joffrey and his alleged hooker killing craziness would have to be Craig James. I'd say Sparty would be Theon Greyjoy.
No OSU is joeffry. ND is for sure the Kingslayer.
It's pretty clear they are Theon. They feel entitled to something despite never having done anything to earn it. They bang whores on the regular and act like they are awesome because of it. They make stupid decisions like taking Winterfell and trusting a guy that turned out to be a two-faced sociopath (Reek). In real world terms that equates to rooting against Michigan even though an M win would guarantee them a Rose Bowl and the two-faced sociopath is tragic hero Tressel.
If you want to be simplistic enough to explain it to a Sparty though they are the Hound. Living in constant fear of his big brother and fire is a major part of his life.
Theon Greyjoy. No question.
They would be theon greyjoy - family disowns them. wants to be a stark so bad but knows he won't be accepted. Currently in a torture chamber.
If your a spartan fan this has to be one of the lowest points in your life.
Oh this should be a fun game. What are other low points in Sparty fan's life? I'll start
- 2004 Braylon game
- Graduation, facing job prospects
-getting into Michigan St,, realizing you're probably going there
-realizing you forgot to bring your matches to the after-game couch party
If YOU'RE going to bash on MSU; then you better use the correct version of YOU'RE... YOU ARE making me shake MY head.
I hope our recruits don't retaliate
why is anyone following what Michigan State recruits tweet about?
by a laugh. How could they even dream of posting anything like that on the heels of the Jay Harris news.
What no tweets about Tommy Vento? I haz a sadd.
typical sparties. They wake up with Michigan on their "mind". lol
about as much as I care about trash talk from Purdue or Minnesota recruits. We're on another level, and we're going to beat them badly a few times in the near future no matter how much yapping they do on twitter
It's nice to see that the tradition of Michgan occupying space in the heads of Sparty nation is live and well in new recruits. Lil' Bro is as Lil' Bro does.
Well, it seems that someone is taking it to an even more innovative low - someone has apparently decided to create @DrakeHarrisEgo on Twitter to pile on.
It seems to be more evidence that football's most quintessential Napoleon Complex is still thriving, if this indeed a Spartan creation.
This is your culprit: Ryan Byrd of North Branch, MI. Twitter:
He pretty much tweeted out that he was making the @DrakeHarrisEgo twitter parody and has been tweeting at a bunch of recruits about it and how funny it is and got caught before he could delete the evidence. Props to Scott Bell for catching him red-handed:
The SBNation writer who covers MSU recruiting asked him in a DM about it and this was his response:
@SpartansOrDie in response to your DM, created it, tweeted once. Turned it over to someone,Dont run it. I cant reply cuz you don't follow me
MSU recruits should be talking trash to Michigan. Unfortunately HS kids' don't always realize that Twitter is a public forum. Probably won't even be bulletin board material by the time the class of 2014 is runnin' sh-t.
I took a gander at the RCMB board, and looked at some of the subjects they chat about...this one caught me eye. Sums it all up pretty well.
I can't stop looking...its like a car wreck!
Little brother is jealous. Awwwww
Who's Damion Terry?
My question, too. They should've had one of their recruits with national prominence post these tweets.
Michigan recruits are on board with the team the team the team. MSU recruits are all about DATBULL.
God what a bunch of sad little men. Mike Hart is apparently at a car dealership that a guy at the rcmb works at. Enjoy.
Sparty just mad because our recruits rap better than their ex-recruits who leave to pursue a rap career.
You mad, little bro?
shane morris tweeted "dat bull 4 life" earlier, thought that was pretty funny
First we prob shouldnt say little brother. Rather. Jealous cousin. Because a brother doesnt hate an older brother to the depth that MSU does.
And second we shouldnt say anything until we win in EL first. Seriously
There's some 60 year old MSU fan harassing him.
Honestly. 60 year old dudes harassing a 17-18 year old. When fandom crosses the line
Damion Terry, Darian Hicks, Devyn Salmon. None of them received a Michigan offer, so I'm not sure if what they say is all that important. If I remember correctly, Terry was a Shane Morris wanna be in regards to recruiting and practically guaranteed that both Caleb Benenoch and Drake Harris were going to stay Sparty before they both bolted. So, his bitterness is well-earned. We'll see what happens on Saturday over the next couple of years.
Sparty is already recognizing that they had their 5 minutes and will slowly go back to mediocrity. They won't be able to compete with Michigan and OSU year in and year out, the talent difference will be too much. Only so much "sass"/"grit"/whatever you want to call it can do to compensate for raw athleticism.
All I see are a bunch of HS football recruits that would ditch Dantonio in a heartbeat if Hoke threw them a scholarship offer. It has to be tough growing up being the big dog at your school...the best athlete at everything, etc. Then when college teams come looking for recruits you find out you're not one of the chosen elite.
