Sparty not playing well against Youngstown State

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on

Been flashing back and forth between the Tigers (who have a comfortable lead) and the MSU vs. Youngstown game. Score is 7-6 MSU with a few minutes left in the first half. But for some stupid penalties and a blown extra point Youngstown should be leading. MSU's line looks attrocious. Can't open up a hole on the inside and the only runs they're getting are running to the sidelines where they're just flat out faster than the YSU players on most plays (thats how State gots its TD). Sparty has an absolutely horrible starting CB (White #32) who can't cover anyone without an interference penalty.

EDIT, and the second I post, Cousins drops a sixty yard pass play on Youngstown and they go in three plays later with solid blocking and an off tacle run be LeVeon Bell 14-6.

one that finished #61 in Sagarin's preferred Predictor measure.

I thought Youngstown State looked fairly decent for a AA team tonight, but they were 3-8 and #146 in the Sagarin Predictor measure last year.

However shaky they looked, Sparty is cruising late w/ a  28-6 lead.  To me, I'd say good enough/rusty on offense, but needs some serious improvement on D.

But the new guys don't have alot of time to mesh at all. If they want to have any chance this season they're going to have to learn very fast. If they arent gelling by the ND game it could get rough playing OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska all in a row.

Bullough made a ton of tackles . . . too bad they were all 5-10 yards down field!!

Offense will be OK if the Oline can figure things out.

Defense, wooowwww that looked pretty bad, just sayin. I think after ND loses a close one to us they will go home the next weekend and shred MSU D for about 450 - 500 yards.
