The slash to the leg was fine, he kinda screwed up with the stick work the second time.

I get the difference between Scott's and Kessel's fighting abilities. Kessel acted like a tough guy, when he's not. That's the base of the problem I have with it.
I do not agree that the initial slashing was acceptable. The NHL may not suspend him for that specifically, but it's a gutless act.
Kessel knew the deal. If he thought Scott was going to beat him senselessly, but did not want to fight, he could have skated away. He did not have to wait until someone else engaged Scott, then slashed the back of Scott's legs as he skated away.
I think this argument is totally ignorant: "I guess you don't play hockey.". What the fuck does that mean? Yes, I've played hockey. No, I no longer play. It is never okay to slash a player that's wrestling/fighting with someone else.
If Kessel wanted to fight Scott, he should've taken his lumps. If he didn't want to fight, he should've kept his stick on the ice. One action is respectable, the other is gutless.

Agreed on Kessel - he uses his stick as a weapon on two separate occasions, and that's just about the biggest no-no there is in terms of hockey fighting. Inexcusable, clearly deliberate, given that he does it a second time. Hope he sits for a good while.

I still don't like Scott going after Kessel like he does. Clearly a guy like Kessel is not going to want to fight him. Still, a guy really cannot use the stick as a weapon, like you said. It will be awesome to see these guys play the next time, and I assume someone on the Leafs (Orr) will destroy John Scott.

I understand your reaction which was why I was hesitant to start this thread... and if this was any other former Sparty, I would not have started it. However, this is Corey Tropp, the guy responsible for one of the cheapest shots I've ever witnessed in hockey. Kampfer had only recently returned from a fractured skull, and this guy (after a clean hit) took a tomohawk chop at his head sending him back to the hospital. Call me RCMB if you want, but I do take a small bit of joy out of seeing Tropp pummeled.
