Spartans not sold out (?!!)

Ads on 3 different radio stations this morning for "a limited number of tickets still available" in E. Lansing tomorrow night. How the hell, in the middle of the Big Ten season, with the conference front-runner coming in FOR A NIGHT GAME, do you not sell out?

I'm comfortable with my ignorance of all things East Lansing, but that's seriously lame.

(Pardon any dupe posts- I glanced at the 1st 2 pages)

Yes the economy is bad and sure that is probably why season ticket sales are lower than normal but ANYONE should be able to "splurge" on a 50 dollar ticket to a football game?

Some people have their priorities at MSU and apparently paying 50$ for a football game isn't one of them. It's pathetic.

It's ONE game for 50$. Yeah it sucks being laid off but seriously to say that "oh the economy sucks so people can't afford it" is a load of bs.

The unemployment rate for the state of Michigan is ~15 percent. One in six people don't have a job. If you don't think that has an effect, you are nuts sir.

I said that that is why SEASON tickets are down. But a huge game like PSU should be sold out. If you go to one or 2 games this year at MSU you should obviously go to Michigan and then PSU or IOWA are the other marquee games. At a school as large as MSU with as many alums as MSU has they should be able to sell out for the biggest games unless we go into another depression.

I hope you never lose that silver spoon you are apparently holding. Are you truly that cluesless to think that someone who is laid off, possibly looking at losing a house, car, insurance, etc should "get thier priorities in order" and spend the money on a football game? You must have some list of priorities there. Hopefully they can still afford to keep the cable on so they can atleast watch thier team play on tv. What am I thinking of course they have cable, I mean who can't afford a simple cable bill right?

If you really honestly truly believe that 50$ is a lot of money to spend on something once a year and that pretty much any American can scrape together 50$ to do something that they really want to do then I don't know what to tell you.

Americans spend so much money on bs stuff that they do not need it's ridiculous. We max out our credit cards, pay for shit that we don't need. If you REALLY want to do something then you will find a way to do it and to sacrifice something else.

If you want me to explain to you why 50$ isn't 50$ anymore I will be glad to tell you. But I have a feeling that you don't want to hear logic.

I actually sort of agree with Bouje (although I don't like to admit it). I work in the entertainment industry (no, I am not a male stripper) and if something is popular and people want to watch it, they will spend the money to go. If it is a crap show (aka - any MSU football game), of course people aren't going to want to spend money to go. I am guessing that if MSU were undefeated and playing the last game of the year for a chance at a national championship birth, that game would be sold out.

But to not be able to sell out for the biggest game of the year is absurd.

Yes there are lots of people who are laid off and can hardly make ends meet. But there are also others who spend their money on other things (such as getting wasted at a bar etc). I don't think that it is me who is removed from society but people who can legitimately say that 50$ once a year will completely screw them over financially.

Come on you cannot tell me that with inflation, with the dollar being devalued that 50$ is a lot of money now because it's not.

Having a night game that means the tailgaters will be able to drink longer and most likely knew they would passed out before the game even started.

Three years ago a buddy of mine was in EL for the ND night game and saw at least two people passed out around campus on the way to the stadium. They are just keeping the tratition alive!

It's not sold out, are you kidding. Economy or not, that is very hard to believe. My guess, those who don't attend will miss approximately 57 minutes of very good MSU football, all completely derailed by a delay of game, two illegal procedures penalties, an off-sides, and a personal foul-late hit out of bounds (or some other variation of these things)Iowa 20-MSU 17, Heartbreak in Spartan Town.

actually sells out a game........Michigan, Ohio State and ND are about it, mostly because the visitors buy up the extras. The last two OSU games in EL were embarrassingly OSU partisan crowds......they could actually do the O-H-I-O cheer around the stadium with ease.

I have season tickets and have not been able to even GIVE away my 40 yard line seats this season. Only been to the Michigan game and on that day there were far more sellers than buyers, sold an extra for $40 and no one used the seat.

This is nothing new, its not the economy, its simply the way things are at MSU and have always been.
