Spartan statue vandalized

a little up tight this morning? Not a fan of rivalry stuff? A little spray paint never hurt anyone...
September 11th, 2015 at 8:28 AM ^
I just don't understand why this excites people, I guess. It's a poorly sprayed 'M' on a statue. To me, the downside could be worse than the joy of having a letter on a statue for a few hours before its cleaned off.
I can imagine ESPN getting a hold of this footage and belaboring it on national TV while drawing upon how badly MSU has owned us in recent years and how this action makes us the new little brother. Would that be worth the fun spraying it on?
Who knows. In the end, it doesn't affect my life in any real way but I just think it's childish and pointless.

you guys are some straight up squares. L 7 weeeeeeenie!

I admit that this act is college-ish as you mention elsewhere. I did stupid stuff when I was 18-22, too, but nothing like this. I suppose I have just matured enough to no longer find this "super cool bruh".

So please be nice to me on the internets! My whole day depends on it! Dont make me feel bad about myself, it hurts...

That said, you're being an immature dick about it.

never comes in guns blazing. Always a well thought out hit with a silencer. Go ask Stringer.
September 11th, 2015 at 9:59 AM ^
I find it funny, but I have never understood why people talk about themselves in the 3rd person? Are they having an out of body experience and sharing what they see with others?

I'm not really Brother Mouzone. I know, crazy right? You all thouight I was a hitman for hire from New York? Sooo, uhhh, you know, I was talking about the character from the Wire, who is not me, and I am not him, clarity...
September 11th, 2015 at 1:28 PM ^
Thanks, apparently you missed the "/jk" at the bottom.

indeed I did...

I don't have a problem with the vandalism so much as I have a problem with Michigan fans who think we are in a position to taunt/talk shit to Michigan State right now.
September 11th, 2015 at 9:48 AM ^
public perception? It is a college. No one is spraying glyphosphate on trees here...relax
The only thing that pisses me off about this is that they didn't take their time. Do it right or don't do it at all
September 11th, 2015 at 11:28 AM ^
What if a recruits parents were turned off by the immaturity or it re shapes what they believed Michigan to be?
I'm not a huge fan of this kind of thing, but come on - that's quite the straw man.
September 11th, 2015 at 1:54 PM ^
Well, I know that. I guess I was just attempting to illustrate the overall point that more harm could come from something like this than the few chuckles it may get from others.
Oh well, I guess I just don't get the appeal and why this is fun. Even as the raucous college student I was that spent 50% of my undergrad years at Michigan drunk, I wouldn't have wanted to drive an hour to East Lansing with a can of spray paint to paint an 'M' on the statue.
As illustrated above, that makes me a square.
September 11th, 2015 at 2:52 PM ^
what if the paint store's owner that they vandals bought the paint from, needed those two cans to put the store into the black, and as such, was able to afford peewee football for his son and the son turned into a mega football recruit who always looked fondly on the two cans of paint, maize and blue, that gave him a chance to play football and decided that he'd only play for Michigan because of it.
I think we'd be all talking differently if this were the straw man scenario we used.
September 11th, 2015 at 10:57 AM ^
This is a chickenshit move seeing how it's not Michigan v. MSU this week. It's just a lame attempt if it's not during the actual game week. If MSU painted the "M" on the diag in July everyone would call it lame and for good reason.

I sort of get it when it's done before graduation or before the game but this out of band vandalism seems doubley silly. I'd prefer that we forgot that safety school didn't exist except for on game weeks.

You have to take your shot when the opportunity presents itself.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:24 AM ^
I remember my first beer also.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:23 AM ^
This is stupid. Why do this now of all time? I'm not a fan of vandalism in general, but if they're going to spray paint it, the only acceptable time is before the game. Even stupider since Harbaugh has been doing everything to keep things about the game and avoiding side distractions. MSU doesn't need any more fuel for DISRESPECT.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:25 AM ^
EVERY CHANCE YOU GET, kids just having fun man. They did paint our M green, so screw them, they can get it anytime of year.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:30 AM ^
This is what college kids do. And on the scale of stupid, this ranks pretty low (with DUIs, etc., ranking really high).
But the quality? It looks like something Montana 300 would produce. Unclever, not much substance, really third rate work.
(And to those saying this should be done only during rivalry week, recall that MSU students stand vigil over there statue that week. Trying to paint it then could get pretty ugly, pretty quick.)
September 11th, 2015 at 8:37 AM ^
a lot of fun people on this blog, huh? It does look like shit tho, we need to step our tagging game up!
September 11th, 2015 at 8:47 AM ^
if some engineering students could rig up a drone with paint ball cannons to shoot at the statue during rivalry week?
That would really show the Michigan Difference.

@BrotherMouzone - I'm reading through this thread and I'm having a hard time telling if you think the people on this blog are fun or not. Also, are you for or against the spray paint job? If you could reply and clarify that for me, that would be great.

Some of these people act like these kids stood up (in front of others mind you) at a college football game...Bastards
September 11th, 2015 at 8:26 AM ^
MSU has a disrespect pipeline... they don't need outside fuel, they manufacture their own.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:24 AM ^
But use the correct shades of both maize and blue next time. And do a better job.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:27 AM ^
Are we sure it wasn't a rogue band of Bruins trying to impersonate us?
September 11th, 2015 at 8:26 AM ^
A crime against the state?
All it is is some spray paint on a bronze statue. I don't think it's original or clever (or even a good paint job), but this sort of "vandalism" has been going on for at least 60 years or so.
It's not permanent damage, and it's a rite of passage for some college groups. Not only am I not in a lather about this, I vaguely like it due to the tradition of this sort of vandalism.
Now I'd like it more if (a) the "vandals" had done a better paint job (that's some "Staee" quality work there), (b) it wasn't sporting some greek tags, and (c) we had more recent success against them.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:46 AM ^
The "vandals" took the handles.
September 11th, 2015 at 9:04 AM ^
it's chicken.
From the follow-up album - one of the best three album stretches of all time!
(Why didn't these criminals at least dress up Sparty's helmet with some wings? That might be a fresh new look for the statue.)
September 11th, 2015 at 8:26 AM ^
They should have glued a duck mask on his head - that would have been funny
September 11th, 2015 at 8:26 AM ^
Staee fans did it themselves to feign angar and add moar fuel to their hatred fire.
September 11th, 2015 at 9:53 AM ^
seems to me that very few of those morans are capable of such a complicated thought process.
September 11th, 2015 at 8:27 AM ^
