funky things happen to Michigan there.
I expect a deluge when Michigan has the ball, and the sun to come out when ND has the ball.

Looks like one of those things where once the front passes through it will be fairly clear? I hope so.
September 10th, 2010 at 12:31 PM ^
I checked the radar today, and I am no meteorologist but IME, what's coming looks like it will break up and never get to us and if it does it'll last for all of 5 seconds.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:09 AM ^
A south wind (i.e. a wind from the south) will be from the right to left on your screen.
September 10th, 2010 at 5:48 PM ^
Correct, because their stadium is a scaled-down copy of ours.
September 11th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
But I don't see why that affects the directional orientation.
September 11th, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
press box is on the same side
September 10th, 2010 at 10:09 AM ^
I pray it clears up around game time.

Bill Steffen at WOODTV here in Grand Rapids (South Bend is close enough). His take:
Saturday looks like a 70-80% chance of rain…so it’s not a certainty, but pretty likely. Scattered showers start in the late morning and continue through about mid-afternoon. It won’t be raining all the time, and it looks like mostly light showers.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
I wouldn't feel real comfortable saying that Grand Rapids and South Bend are "close enough" that the weather reports for one would be applicable to the other.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:23 AM ^
With this system coming up from the south -- and it being a major system, they both apply. It's entirely different as it relates to lake effect snow, scattered storms, etc., but this system is on a South Bend/GR/Kalamazoo path.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:34 AM ^
If the storm is going south to north, and the showers will start in GR in late morning and continue into the afternoon, wouldn't the showers be out of the way in South Bend by the late afternoon kickoff?
September 10th, 2010 at 10:45 AM ^
Could very well be. This system is weird though -- it's moving almost east right now from Missouri. There really isn't much rain with it either. I'm really not sure what's going to happen.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:38 AM ^
That's like 100 miles, which is between 2 and 5 hours of storm travel time. They largely get the same weather, but not necessarily at the same time.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:11 AM ^
we're not the team whose only hope of winning is to take advantage of a weak secondary. I can't wait to see Mouton and Roh lay down some starting blocks and tee off at Crist the whole day.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:15 AM ^
I really think we can handle ND's offensive line -- Purdue (yes it was mainly Kerrigan) was consistently in the backfield.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:36 AM ^
The key match up in my mind. The longer the quarterback has the deeper the routes they can explore.
If you are right and we are even in turnovers, we'll be fine. Those aren't big ifs.
September 10th, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
Absolutely I agree with this. Remember, UConn has a very good, big, experienced OL, and we did very well against it. ND's line is by no means all scrubs, but we should be able to handle them just fine as well.
September 10th, 2010 at 10:18 AM ^
is going to devour their D-Line.

An mgoblog user (who took a couple atmospheric science courses during undergrad) posted the other day and said it wouldn't rain til after the game! HOW COULD HE BE WRONG?

HEY! IN YESTERDAY'S THREAD, I CALLED FIRST DIBS ON TODAYS WEATHER UPDATE! NOT FAIR!
September 10th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
Dibs on tomorrow's weather report (which will basically just describe what I see out my window).

They'll likely practice with wet balls (lololololol). Have a bucket 'o water to dunk them in throughout practice.
After the fumble debacle that was 2008 during that monsoon, I sure hope they focus on ball control (lololololol again) this week.

Again, here is the weather from WNDU-TV: http://www.wndu.com/weather the NBC station in South Bend. Looks like rain late tonight and early tomorrow, expected to be dry for most of the game....
Go Blue!

Cloudy, with a 100% chance of SHOELACE running all over your ass, bitches!!!
That is all.
September 10th, 2010 at 3:53 PM ^
Rain / Sleet / Snow can't slow down the Denard show. 31-21 Michigan no matter the weather.
September 10th, 2010 at 11:10 PM ^
Just checked weather.com
It's 50% chance of showers right now on the hour-by-hour forecast between 3 and 6 PM tomorrow.
(Also specifically checked for ND stadium specifically, not South Bend in general.)
September 10th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
There's also a 30% chance of a Lou Holtz stroke between 6-8pm
September 10th, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
Err, too soon. Or late. Or now.
