Remember, neither did Hackett and see how that worked out...

Minick is now the Associate Athletic Director of Football, so he is gaining the administrative experience here. His military background and his alleged work ethic would give him the ability to approach the job in a manner that would breed success. As the trend in the athletic department is subsidiary roles for administration, I don't see a reason to think that you could reinforce Minicks weakness, accounting for instance, with an assistant like is done in the NFL for general managers with contract specialists. Most important, he would be a candidate that Jim Harbuagh clearly could work under, which is a necessary component of the next AD. Just a thought

One other staff note of relevance revealed on Friday is that former Michigan defensive tackle Will Carr is remaining on the staff as a Defensive Analyst. Carr joined Brady Hoke’s staff last year to work with defensive linemen, but it was not publicly known until today that he had been retained by Harbaugh.

I knew Carr had been part of the staff last year but having heard nothing since December about his status, assumed he was elsewhere. Glad to see he is still around. Glad to see Soup back as well.

The one thing that is interesting is the building of the "high school connection" in certain areas via the staff, most notably the addition of Rick Finotti. To have this near-continuous mentorship / teaching mindset around the players should definitely pay dividends.

While grabing Soup is warming news, the high school coach ingreadent could help spice up recruting!

He told 800 coaches he was looking for "top, highly productive " coaches to regularuy add to his staff in some aspect.  Then move them on to the coaching ranks.  With those types of coaches coming to the staff they bring connections to top highly productive recrutes.  Plus coaches that would like that oppertuinity may have an added intrest in stearing players our direction.  Seems like a great stratiagy on Harbaugh's part.

If all the speculation that Jedd Fisch is only going to be on the staff for one year, this could be a position used to groom Cambell for the next coach in line once Fisch leaves

I am very happy for us and for Will Carr himself that he is staying on. Possibly to coach d line once Mattison retires.

I'm wondering if Jedd Fisch is a one-and-done as the passing game coordinator.   He seems way overqualified to stay in his current position long-term at current salary.  Fisch found himself out of work and needing a transition gig, and Harbaugh needed to pull together a staff quickly, so the timing may have worked out perfectly.  I could see Harbaugh agreeing to bring Fisch in for one year, and once his Jaguars contract subsidy runs out, Fisch moves on to an OC position elsewhere.  Cambell would then take over coaching the receivers next year.

WRs coached by Campbell that have gone on to the NFL:

Armani Toomer

Braylon Edwards

Mario Manningham

Tai Streets

Jason Avant

Steve Breaston

David Terrell

Marvin McNutt

He also coached Tony Moeaki when he was WR/TE coach at Iowa in 2009.

He also coached Charles Woodson on returning punts.

We seem to be practicing more, have more coaches, have more access to the program....Are we violating every rule , or were the previous coaches just that incompetent?

Ok .... I'm going on the record that if he get's Loeffler here .... I'm losing it!

The two guys I've always thought would be back are Soup and Loeffler.

I love all the staff but those are guys that you always want to see come back because they were great recruiters.  And Michigan Men!  Soup!  and Loeffler!

Wow!  Soup is back!!!  That's bigger than any other hire for me!

is doing because of the long term implications. You take Weber as an example of someone who was upset when his main recruiter left.  There will be so much competition on this staff for advancement as well as to go elsewhere. When one leaves someone else steps in and it is seamless. This isn't just a coaching tree he's developing. This is more like a vine that continues to spread rapidly. There will be Michigan people everywhere and Michigan will be the new cradle of coaches.
