Sound Mind Sound Body Camp visitors

Submitted by Magnus on

There's been much ado about Michigan's Summer Swarm tour where the coaches were traveling across the country, but Michigan's coaches are now at the SMSB Camp right in their own back yard. I've done my best to try to keep track of the notable prospects at SMSB, and lots of them are visiting Michigan's campus either before or after the camp.

I ran into Peoples at a function in Ann Arbor the night before the Spring game.  I had a chance to talk to him and he was a super nice guy.  It was loud in the cigar bar, but I believe he told me about a brand new baby he just had.  He was all smiles.

I didn't know DPJ was his son.  I hope pops can pursuade him to come to the good guys.

????  He lettered three years—'91-'92-'93—started 19 games in his junior and senior seasons, and is credited with 108 tackles and 7 interceptions.

As far as doghouses go, Moeller was the head coach while Shonte was playing, not Carr. The trouble he got into was after his senior season, when he fired a gun several times at somebody he thought was breaking into his car. Turned out it was plainclothes cops investigating car break-ins, and Shonte's car was one of those that had already been broken into. He was convicted of felonious assault, and it's probable that it cost him a chance to be drafted in the NFL, which is how he ended up in the CFL.

He's fortunate he didn't kill anybody.

Yeah, Peoples was a major contributor. He was huge on the goal line stand against Penn State in 1993. But my favorite Peoples memory was probably after that shooting incident when he was quoted as saying "that's how we take care of things in Saginaw." Being also from Saginaw, that quote definitely gave me some bad ass points. Real shame that it messed up his pro career though.
