Sort of OT - Curses and other phenomenon

Submitted by Wendyk5 on
I'm going to the game this weekend and I'm a little concerned because we've lost every home game I've attended since graduation (1987). That includes games against Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State and last year's Toledo game. Normally, I'm not one to believe in curses, etc. But something else I've noticed is that when I leave the room when watching the game on TV, we score. So now, when we're down, my family makes me leave the room. I'm just happy to help out the team. I've been to two Northwestern games at Northwestern and we've won both games. Here's to the end of the curse!

I believe you meant, "curses and other phoenomena," but your "losing streak" is quite impressive. I'm sure there are some great stat-masters here who could calculate the odds of UM losing every game you attend, though, if they had an exact number. You definitely seem to have stumbled into an anomaly, whatever the odds.

There's a saying that to get something you've never had, you must do something you've never done. For you I suggest the following: - Smuggle 5 or 6 mini bottles of Bacardi and SoCo into the stadium (you have Coke to mix it with now!) and get trashed. - Celebrate Halloween early by wearing a straw hat (the bigger the better) with maize overalls. If it's too cold, Michigan snuggies have known magical powers. - Tell everyone you're ONLY there to hear the Penn State Blue Band play "Seven Nation Army" and to see Mike McQueary's hair in person. - Profit.

Look at it this way...there are thousands of people who watched those games on TV and probably believe we lost because they weren't actually there. Maybe it's their fault?
