Soony Saad makes MLS debut

Submitted by Musket Rebellion on

Soony Saad made his MLS debut in the 63rd minute of Sporting Kansas City's match vs the Portland Timbers today. He scored a goal in the 72nd minute.

Also, today's his birthday, so happy birthday to a former wolverine. Too bad his goal put the icing on the game against my Timbers, but it is good to see him do well.

That is great news.  I'm really happy for him.  Too bad I missed this game.

Not to hijack this thread, but did any of you see Josh Gatt play in high school for Catholic Central HS?   He now plays professional soccer for Molde in the Norweigien league.  I think he is going to figure into our next WC run.

Happy to see Michigan well represented in pro soccer but I have to say I was never a fan of the way Soony conducted himself on the pitch. However, he is still young and hopefully he can mature and find success in the sport.

Glad to see he scored in his first game, like the OP mentioned, even if it came at the expense of my Timbers. Hopefully he can keep growing as a player to catch the eye of the national team or bigger clubs. I do not remember hearing he was apart of the U17 or U20 national teams (I did google to check)

played 1 game for the U20 team last year in December against Canada in Florida. 2 links confirm his involvement in the game which he had 78 minutes played and 1 goal.

Edit: Supposed to be a reply to the above poster talking about Soony's international apps.
