Somewhat Significant Postgame Dee Hart/HaHa Quotes *Updated*

Submitted by DGDestroys on

After the Championship game today, reporters (predictably) swarmed the DP players for news. Here are some interesting tweets/reports that followed.

Chiil my dude.  I'm nervous he may not come to UM too because he seems like a great RB that would do great things for UM football.  Were all just scared he might not come to UM after he has been a target for so long.  Don't sugar coat it and say he either wants to come or not - people are indecisive.  Deal with it.

But I think you are asking 18 year olds to be at a level of maturity that is not realistic.  Fact is, high school graduates are still boys.  Their college experience is one of the things that will help give them the maturity and will help them later in life, and Michigan is tops at this.  High School seniors are not going to be glued to every Michigan related item broadcast on the BTN, etc.  That comes later, after they step on campus in AA.  I arrived freshman year knowing nothing about the school, but the obsession started there and here I am on a Sunday morning . . . .. .

In the grand scheme of things Dee needs to do what he feels is best for himself.

Do I want him in Ann Arbor?  Unequivocally yes.

Will I fault him if he decides to go elsewhere?  No, these past few months have been rough on the most diehard M fans and most of us aren't commiting to 4+ years of blood sweat and tears for the FB program.

I'm not blaming him either, but he shouldn't be looked at in the same light as a lot of our recruits. His mind is going to change and understandably so. He's in a position where he can basically walk on to any campus in the country and be welcomed with open arms, which isn't something very many recruits can say.. I do think he'll be a Wolverine if RR stays, but there's a lot of time between now and NSD. Just about anything could happen.

There is a little wiggle room for early graduates. Even though classes start on January5th doesn't mean he has to necessarily be there right away. Remember last year when Devin snuck in towards the end of January? All he has to do is be at a school before the last day to add/drop classes. He would have to work his ass off to catch up, may even have to live with some guy named Charlie, who would have no idea who he is, and wouldn't know the difference between a football or a baseball like Devin had to, but he could still enroll early here, or anywhere else for that matter. He just has to beat the add/drop date like Devin had to.

Let's see here:

  • Dee and Ha-Ha both say they're 85-90% playing college ball together
  • Dee still plans to EE, says "I leave January 21st."
  • UM 1st day of class Jan. 5, last day to add a class Jan. 25*
  • UF 1st day of class Jan. 5, last day to add Jan. 11
  • UA 1st day of class Jan. 12, last day to add Jan. 19
  • FSU 1st day of class Jan. 4, last day to add Jan. 7

As far as dates go, it's looking best for Michigan.

That said, I think we all, myself included, would be best served to lightly regard all of the news and take a big chill pill until all the LOIs are signed, sealed, and delivered.

*The key with all of these last add day deadlines is that most of them are "without dean's permission;" i.e., he could probably still add if the football program/AD expressed to the dean the importance of the young man's enrollment.

Auburn 1st day of class Jan. 10, last day to add unclear, last day to drop Jan. 31

So Auburn could be a possibility for Dee, but if HaHa was solid 'Bama, I doubt he would go to Auburn.  Then again, they could be defending national champs.

Honestly, this is getting old.  We empower these recruits as if they're NFL worthy already.  Quite frankly (excuse me Stephen A.) immaturity has proven to be the Achilles heel for most recruits (ultimately effecting the whole program).  Michigan is rebounding in a big way.  We have a mature, hard-working, humble team.  Led by Denard's humility, and RR's tact and perseverance; they are holding the rope.  The transformation has already happened.  If we continue to recruit athletes with character, we will prevail.  Desmond Morgan (love the name Howard-Trent) will be an All-American in 3 years!  He has the skill set and more importantly the right attitude and character.

I just get frustrated by the "Media Hype"!  They are creating egos and empowering individuals, and it's starting to carry over to the collegiate level.  The attitudes like "No Fly Zone" etc... has proven to be ineffective and short lived.  A confidence is important and most of these 3, 4, and 5 star recruits have it.  But it needs to be complimented with maturity and humility.

All these guys should take a look at Mike Vick.  Bottom line is, the quicker you change your attitude and grow up, the better off you will be in the long run.  I’m afraid Dee will make the wrong decision because of immaturity.  If Dee comes to Michigan, he will be a better man; a Michigan Man!

Just a Sunday vent…Hope you all have a great day!  Be well.

He's the number one all purpose back in the country and is currently committed to a school which hasn't even decided who is going to be their coach for next season, so he is keeping his options open. People are reading waaaaay too much into this.

The perception is that there is going to be a coaching change.  This is created by the Media not the university.  The bottom line is RR is still our coach.  Hence they are still recruiting as such...They are not telling their recruits there is a coaching change on the horizon.  DB is sticking to what he said when we were 5-0.  He will conduct a review of the season, stats, etc...at the end of the season.  DB didn't say he was making a decision on who our next coach is going to be, that is a given and should be considered at every program that isn't living up to the tradition.

Regarding maturity, see Countess' recent comments!  I like this kid.

I agree with drewandblue about the whole media empowering HS kids with the nonstop questions and honestly badgering some of them to the point of they will say anything to get the media outta thier faces. I'm sure this will continue to only get hyped the closer it gets to NSD but come on wolverine fans dont get your hopes up too much....we have a great team now and its only going to get better!!

Princeton University starts classes January 31st (not that they have early enrollment but that is irrelevant). Their helmets have wings in ugly orange and black. Fritz Crisler coached the Tigers from 1932-37 when he then became Michigan's head coach. DH will become a Tiger. Bet on it.
