Some U-M fans need to be ex-communicated

Submitted by sULLY on

I recently stumbled across a site via twitter that I find offensive as a die-hard Michigan fan.

Edited-Removed link

It's fine if you disagree with the hiring and disired a big name coach.  However, creating a website that already denounces our new HC as a failure is an embarrassment.

I especially liked this part of the page: "The Brady Hoke hire was not our first choice by a long shot. That being said IF he is successful we will most certainly support him."

Nothing says band-wagon fan like "I will only support a coach if he is immediately sucessful, but will publicly state my lack of support until that happens."

The point of this topic is that if we have learned anything from the Rodriguez era is that a lack of internal support (fanbase, etc...) will doom a program from the start.

Let the cool story bro! responses commence.

P.S. - I sincerely hope that whoever created the website is not an Mgoblogger.

Sounds eerily similar to what most of our current NFL guys have done over the last three years...

He is actually one of the sponsors for Sam & Ira's show. He's pissed, but I think he created the site as more of a money making opportunity than anything.

Regardless of who was hired, some portion of the fanbase was not going to be happy.   For your own sanity, I suggest you actively filter out this kind of garbage to avoid any chance of polluting your mind. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd rather not even see links to crap like that posted.   It's why I've largely avoided the Freep since they began their holy war against the program.

Let's judge Hoke on what really matters: winning and building a program we can be proud of.  That's where my focus will be.

as a fan. DB isn't going to say "Oh, dweeb fans are bitching? Maybe I'll fire Hoke to make them happy".

Hoke is going to be here at least 3 years unless something more severe than a foot fetish pops up so we need to support the coach and staff.

The bandwagon point is spot on.  Let this slimeball do his thing and just don't acknowledge him.  One of two things will happen (A) he wises up and realizes he's an idiot or, (B) he falls off the face of the earth and no one respects his opinion after this little incident.  I for one could care less what he thinks.  I didn't necessarily want Hoke as our coach, but the second he was hired I swallowed my personal thoughts and feelings about him and now completely support him.

Long story short, this guys wants attention and is trying to get mentioned in an ESPN story or something.

Wow, a couple of people disagree with the coaching decision and decided to buy a URL to be funny/mean/make money/whatever.  If this is a shock to anyone, then I think you may have bigger problems than being concerned about a fractured fanbase.  People can disagree about things and not be "haters", which was the sentiment I gathered around here yesterday when Brian voiced some displeasure with Hoke.

H-eart in right place.  He thinks...

O-SU sucks and he wants to...

K-ill sparty!

E-veryone can kiss his ass if you're not on board.

And that's a big ass!

Support our coach!  Stop with the negative attitudes and pull it together.  We are going to be fine.  He is an awesome coach!  I can't find a negative comment out there regarding his character and abilities.  Every player that has commented has had great things to say.  Those are players with credability.  Some people need to check their creditableness before they comment if he is good for our program or not.

Most of us apparently didn't get "our guy" this time around; I certainly didn't.  My attitude now, though, is that Brady Hoke is the head football coach at the University of Michigan, and is thus deserving of everyone's support.  Even if those who were in his corner were mostly the people who sabotaged RR from the beginning, it would be hypocritical to treat Hoke the same way they treated RR.

I wouldn't have any objection to a "Fire David Brandon" website, or a gradual erosion of the Carr-tel's input into the program, but Brady Hoke needs everyone's support now for the good of the program.   Hoke is there now, and is there to stay for awhile.  He is deserving of the same four years RR should have gotten.

I still don't trust David Brandon, and eagerly await the day when he "regretfully" submits his resignation so that he can focus on running for office, but I hope Hoke gets a four-year exemption from any criticism that damages his position as head football coach.  If he doesn't get the support that RR wasn't given, it's going to be a long four years.

I have vented.  I have had my say.  It is on my own blog if anyone is interested.  But it is now a new day and Brady Hoke, whether or not any of us agreed with the hire, is our new head football coach.  I plan to treat him as such.

every fan base goes and makes a Fire(Coach Name).com site as soon as a hire is announced. the fire mark dantonio website is currently sitting with an MSU logo and an ad... i believe it was switched over after his heart attack

If we excommunicated all the people who hated RR from the moment he started and all the people who are upset with the Hoke hire, we wouldn't have enough people to fill Michigan Stadium!

Let's give some people some time to calm down and see how things go.  People can't help it if they think this was a bad hire, but with time people should mellow out.  But as we saw with Rich Rod, some people never did.  We will see a lot of backpeddaling if Hoke starts to win, though.  I know I will have to eat some crow too if that happens.

It's just like when we elect a president, everyone who didn't vote for them gets all up in arms and says stupid things like "Well that's not my President."  Some of them never calm down about it, but the smart ones do.  I love that the people who said "That's not my president" about Obama are the same ones who said "Hey, he is EVERYONE's President about Bush" (and visa versa).  Hopefully people will chill, but in sports as in politics, most people are total morons.

... some mgoblogger with serious Harbaugh manlove registers a domain last week and slaps together a POS website.  No contact info, and he hides behind a proxy with his GoDaddy private registration.

If you can't man-up when you bash a new coach by name (and domain), then you are beneath contempt.

But when he actually tries to market his T-shirt or bumper sticker or whatever, bingo!  He will have gone one step too far, and will learn what DMCA means and what a C&D is.

When you throw bricks at the Big House, you better be ready to run.

Bull.  Joe fan has no impact on the hiring and firing of coaches.  We are not responsible for the success or failure of the team.  Our sole purpose in life is to buy tickets, jerseys, memorabilia, and such.  It is the Alumni donors and former players who have the power to get a man fired not us.  What we do here is nothing more than mental masturbation, making ourselves feel important as fans while doing nothing of substance.  Don't get me wrong, I am fine with that, but I wish some of you would keep that in perspective when you make you "gotta support the Hoke or he will fail"  comments.

actually, the way brian is being right now, so should he.  brian is dead wrong on hoke, and will stoke the flames in his own interest to get more web traffic which means $$$ for him.

As a RR supporter, I am excited that we have a coach.  I think BH will do great here.  I want to move foward and stop thinking about what could have been, I want to think about what will be.  BH hasn't even had his first press conference, I am really interested to hear him speak about the future here.
