Solar Eclipse Posbang
It's Monday morning, and if your life is similar to mine there's a fair amount of drudgery filling this day. There's also a freakin' total solar eclipse in many parts of the country.
Do we have too many posbangs here? Maybe. But I promise not to post another solar eclipse posbang until the next solar eclipse that marches from coast to coast of the U.S.
Here's my solar eclipse jam (other choice was The Velvet Underground Who Loves the Sun?):

How about Ow My (Eye)Balls! ?
(My view was that a posbang would irritate some of the cranks on the board, so I should at least limit the title so as to not use much real estate.)

Does everyone have their Xanex for when the eclipse is gone and they have nothing to look forward to?
Amazing what people will put so much effort into while ignoring real life problems. TAKE ME WITH YOU ZOLTAN MESKO!!!!!!

The fact that there are real-life problems means we should never enjoy a natural phenomenon that, in the minds of many, transcends our day-to-day problems? What an awful outlook.
Some of us can take this in while still being aware of real-life problems. Watching (and being excited about) a once-in-a-lifetime eclipse and being aware of real issues are not mutually exclusive.

cannot be enjoyed because of North Korea, healthcare debate, and the West Nile Virus.
This is well known. Today at 2:23 I will be pondering these bad things and NOT watching the Eclipse.

My teenage kids are pretty psyched for the eclipse, so that's cool to see. I'm a bit less enthused having seen a few but plan on checking it out with them. Good old-fashioned family sun-gazing.

but I have my 'Xanax' to deal with all the arseholes in the real world after the eclipse is over. Just kidding. I don't need Xanax and don't like it.
But seriously. This is a once in a lifetime event. You know all the other world problems you're clearly working 24-7 to solve (cuz if you weren't, why the admonishment of the rest of us, unless you like being a hypocrite)??
They'll still be there for us to think about after the eclipse so. Yea.

I live in South Carolina and I live and work just a couple of miles form the very center of eclipse totality, so well within the path. I am working today, although many people were given the day off because of traffic fears so my journey to work this morning was easier than usual. All that said I may step out and take a peek at the event when it occurs.

At work, was trying to watch from the Carbondale feed, but froze, after a long time loading and maybe a couple minutes of live interviews. Tried again for the S. Carolina feed (from a boat in the ocean) and it froze during an interview with a Coast Guard specialist. Kept my earphones on, and after some time started again where it had stopped. So I figure this latest freeze will eventually give me "live" in segments, even after the big moment in reality. (Considering how long the current silence, I'll probably have to watch the reruns at home on TV. Not quite the same as being out in the ocean...)
